A journey to Kiuchi's palace during the 1st arc of the game goes wrong and Mementos ends up spitting out Wonder, Closer and Lufel in recreations of the P5 Palace Owners' palaces, where they meet the PT who're trapped there too.

I played for a short while at launch and backed off because I realized I would rather just wait for global than play with MTL, but the energy system works pretty much like Mihoyo games. You use energy for stuff like XP, ascension materials and such, but you can do the story without using energy. The barrier for people with the story is going to be player level caps, exactly like Mihoyo games, but once you get that maxed out then it's just doing the story as the patches drop.
