The demo stands for "Demolitions" as in explosives. So he is the explosives man. I see where you could get that confused though.

Why are good Demomen so much rarer than other classes? I feel like the majority of the time the team's Demoman is a Demoknight.

(I mean yeah stickies are kinda easy as long as you don't get bumrushed but pipes are really difficult and demo being shit at closer ranges really fucks with him)
