I miss its small, compact, yet masterfully crafted hub worlds, each chapter had. Incredibly charming game.

I wonder which PS2 trilogy did it better? Sly, Ratchet and Clank or Jax and Daxter?

sly cooper and it's not even close.
It's the most consistent, both in gameplay and tone.
Jax and daxter was just trend hopping, from light hearted collectathons to GTA-esque edgeslop.

I've only played the first Sly but I didn't find it to be that fun. Well, the middle part of it tbdesu. The first level was fine, and the last two were pretty good. But level 2 and 3 were pretty meh to bad.
I really like ratchet 1 and 2, tho they do have some issues. Not a fan of the third one, but deadlocked was great.

Ratchet. There's a reason it still gets games sometimes while the other 2 died off.

For me, its J&D
I'm in the minority but I think the tone change from 1 to 2 and 3 is great, it made the whole story better. Jak in the first game was still a kid while in the 2nd and 3rd game he was an adult, so it aligned with the shift

Objectively? Maybe. Personally there are parts I just don't jive with but they aren't unfair, simply challenging or not my favorite atmosphere. Great trilogy, too.

I didn't encounter GTA until way later so I just saw it as the world opening up even more in a new location then the twist happens.
I will still take points off from Jak 2 and 3 for removing so many Eco powers. It could've at least been something scarce you can save for especially tough parts.
Even so, sweet trilogy and enjoyable enough that my mind spun a premise for a fourth on its own, like with so many other fans.

You should give Sly 2 a shot. It's a completely different kind of game than the first, and most people prefer its style of gameplay.

Sly
>First game is a solid platformer
>Second and Third innovate into something different but better with both titles being really good
R&C is the same across all 3 titles without too much innovation. They're fun but I think the formula gets stale.
Jak 1 is a really good platformer that builds upon crash's basics. Jak 2 goes in an almost completely different direction. 3 doesn't really build upon it too much and instead spends a lot of time...with racing mechanics, it's not bad but it's definitely a step down in quality
