Would Chapter 3:Peace fix the Phantom Pain?

Nothing to fix

Phantom Pain is like 10 year old game now. Let it go.

I'm in the early stages of the game right now but can I get a QRD on why MGSV is called "unfinished"?
I know the Kojima-Konami dispute was around the time it released, so is it literally unfinished from a narrative perspective, like there's chunks missing from the story?

Yes. Theres a major plot point that is unresolved in game because they didn't put in the final mission

The game will end, not necessarily on the best note but it will feel reasonably finished if leaving you wanting for more. Then immediately after ward you'll get a preview for the second season before the game opens on Chapter 2. This is the actual critical moment because you think to yourself oh my god Kojima is a genius. But this actually a trick, chapter 2 is devoid of any real content, just a few added cutscenes for completing re-do of missions. The cutscenrs hype up all sorts of coming climaxes only for them to never come to pass, with several major confrontations being off screened and the game ending with you being forced to replay the tutorial mission completely unchanged with all the tutorial shit for a 2-minute epilogue scene.

The game starts strong but it unravels past the midpoint in a way that is unheard of.

Chapter 1 is fine, Chapter 2 is mostly just replaying previous mission and then the game just kinda ends.

its very much an unfinished game, kojimbo blew the budget making 2 open world areas that are fun to sneak around but the missions repeat themselves and the base building customization mechanics are severely lacking, its not really a bad game but it feels like a slice of something that could have been greater if development was more organized and if konami threw even more money at it but there was clearly a point where they told kojima his time was up

The lack of military installations like the one form GZ was my biggest gripe about the open world.

Peace is literally the nuclear disarm ending in Metal Gear Online.

Peace Walker was exactly the same. You can tell a lot of Metal Gear fans inexplicably skipped Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker. (That's why MGS V is called MGS V. Because 5 was already taken by PW.)

It's not "cut content." Chico as an idea ended with a few pieces of concept art and a single recorded and unused line of Venon saying "Chico."

No because the game, narratively, is a fucking mess and the core gameplay although fine lacks a decent playground and level design to make it interesting.

The best missions in Phantom Pain are the Prologue, the one where you rescue Kaz, the one where you get the rocket launcher thing, the first mission in Africa, the mission where you run in to the burning man at the parasite factory, the Code talker rescue, and the mission where you kill all your guys at motherbase. Everything else feels poorly thrown together, particularly the filler missions. If these missions were tied together as a proper progression rather than expecting you to grind in between the more meaty missions, it would be a great game, but every other mission is just meh. Even the big confrontation with Skull Face feels like they stopped making it halfway through, and the mech boss fight after it is WOAT boss design.

Phantom Pain has like 10 hours worth of decent level design and narrative but for every hour you engage in that you're expected to play 10 hours additional of grindy "immersive sim" shit that just doesn't suit the world.

For me, it was Codetalker's ominous warning about Kaz that is never mentioned again in either MGSV or anything after chronologically.

Ground Zeroes wrote a monumental amount of cheques that Phantom Pain just refused to cash. All the theories /v/ was coming up with would have made a far better game than Phantom Pain turned out to be but to me the biggest fuck up is how the level design in Phantom Pain has like 3 Ground Zeroes worth of content spread across a shitload of absolutely grim levels of empty and half baked outposts. Infact, if they took every outpost in both Africa and Afghanistan and arranged them properly there might be a decent game there but it just wasn't to be. A lot of good ideas with very little connective tissue.

it is literally missing one mission
The actual ending for the game is the ending that was always intended but one plot thread goes unresolved. The game is great regardless.

Yeah but that mission by all accounts was supposed to be an incredibly meaty one involving a new area and tying off a bunch of narrative plot points. So it's pretty damn important bro.

>One mission
I think it's one mission like how Afghanistan and Africa were "one mission", you just know they would have split the world in to a bunch of sub missions as well, maybe that's where the filler missions seen in Chapter 2 were supposed to take place but they were thrown back in to the other 2 open world areas.

Anon, the "filler missions" in Chapter 2 are identical to the ones in Peace Walker. Why can't people understand this?

I really wish the game was just MGS4's gameplay with level design for the bases as consistent as Ground Zeroes.

I mean, with how cutscenes are handled in V you could have a an entire segment and bossfight with killer Chico where the only dialogue is Venom going "Chico..." after its over
Anonymous No.713620805 [Report]

No, because there isn't a single shred of assets related to him in the game files. People have been digging extensively. It's the same with the VO - there's actually just a handful of unused lines.

The whole "cut content myth" is exactly that.

lies from the internet and hivemind from vidya forums 2012-2015, THERE weren't any unfinished parts.
