Minecraft is for little kids who are gay and stupid. At some point you need to activate higher levels of thinking and stop being a dumb little retard.

1) Find a bunch of stones with copper ore on the surface (don't forget to mark the spots you found them at on the map for later)
2) Find clay and make a pickaxe cast and a crucible
3) Fire the the pickaxe cast and the crucible (takes almost an in-game day)
4) Smelt copper in the crucible
5) Cast the pickaxe head from molten copper (don't forget the tongues, can't hold it with bare hands)
6) Wait for the pickaxe head to solidify
It's that simple.

Vintage story is legitimately great but why the FUCK won't the devs release it on steam? I think the game has a lot more popularity potential if they actually did any advertising nad threw it up on steam. You can buy it on the humble bundle store but not steam for some reason??
>>713618787
This is only true until you get into combat. This can involve being chased by a moose, being swarmed by drifters, or getting sniped by the new ranged enemy.
>>713619087 >This can involve being chased by a moose, being swarmed by drifters, or getting sniped by the new ranged enemy.
didnt think this game had actual combat tbf, thought it might be like minecraft's at most.
>>713619026
Thanks. Thats unfortunate I guess. Theres a real lack of games like this on steam. Im convinced if they decided to release Minecraft on steam it would sell millions of new copies in a short time simply bc so many ppl despise the microsoft store and are steamfags like me.

The combat isn't great right now, you just swing at the enemy. There is a spear, a special sword for the non-animal enemies, a shield, and a bow. There is also a boss and several dungeons, but I haven't fought to any of them yet.
>>713619114
I cranked up the ore spawns.
While it makes copper easy, its still tedious because theres no world settings for rock layer generation.
Youre still gonna have a bad time if you spawn in a 5000 block radius of granite
>>713619227
ou don't have defensive mechanics beyond a shield so certain animals are very hard to deal with. The basic club or sword aren't going to kill bears or wolves that easily so your best bet is a bow (which can be tedious to make if you dont start off as the class with it) or chucking spears, which feels pretty good because they actually do good damage when thrown and can be picked up immediately off the ground.

minecraft had a free version in your browser and could originally just be played in the browser and it had way way way way more buzz and hype around it that got people into it.
This game has absolutely zero marketing and not too much hype around it since it's not trying to appeal to the average minecraft player.
>>713620719
I have OCD and all the games in one place. The torrent site. >>713620735
The free version was unplayable, creative mode from 2009. VS is a much greater game, almost like Dwarf Fortress.
VS is the living proof you don't need marketing.
>>713614792 (OP) >completely rips off every single survival mechanic from TerraFirmaCraft >adds in tedious clay forming and forging minigames >spends the rest of the development time solely focused on adding lore garbage that literally no one cares about
>>713618387
There's a bit of a learning gulf, but once you 'get it,' it's really not that hard. I think the first test of whether or not someone will vibe with Vintage Story is if the causal logic of how to make copper tools will click for them or not.
>>713621406 >Tyron's refusal to add more survival mechanics >no rivers in worldgen makes traversing oceans with boats a major pain in the ass >horrible combat mechanics >slow development speed despite already raking in millions >complete spaghetti code under the hood
game is cool but has many issues

Game isn't perfect, sure, but it's not ready yet either. It's being constantly developed, and the devs said they have more than enough money. They're developing the game in a way they want. Faster development wouldn't necessarily make it any better.
>>713622101
I understand what you're saying, I just think your priorities are fucked up. Let me rephrase what you're saying in a different context so you can see how asinine and distorted that is. >"Yes, I paid for a house. It's taking a while, but I paid them enough. They're building it how they want, roughly as I expected. Faster construction won't necessarily make it any better."
It's just an unfathomable cuck mindset to have. It's the kind of attitude redditors have when they worship Marvel Studios or Disney. Do you understand what I mean?
You honestly need to have some more self respect.
>>713621653
My gripe is that three terrain gen is way too samey. You can walk for half an hour and see everything the game has to offer beyond some small changes in biome colors.
Better be careful not to fall into the 3638289th random hole in the ground as you walk.
>>713622529
That's not really true. The games seasons actually matter and seeing winter for the first time is really awesome as the snow slowly builds up over days.
>no good geology mods >no good botany mods >no good zoology mods >no meterological simulation based on biomes/seasons/surrounding biomes, atmospheric pressure and altitudes
wake me when its real autism hour
>>713630654
And? Me and my friends just started a new world a couple days ago and are trying an ocean run with sparse islands. We started in a hot biome and there wasnt a single fish in the ocean because the one fish in game apparently doesnt spawn when its over 20C. So then we downloaded primitive survival which did absolutely nothing about that or for fishing aside from adding passive systems. Then just yessterday we downloaded Wilderlands Ethology which actually succeeded very well in populating the huge ocean with multiple fish types, but at the end of the day you still have to jump in with a spear and hit fish at the very least 2 times when they swim about 5x faster than you and run when you get close
>>713620418
lmao
God damn. What retard was responsible for that?
From what I can read they were just trying to one up each other or something. Typical "le im smart and i know the thing listen to me" kind of folk.
Insufferable, these kind of people.
>>713620354
Notch never putting Minecraft on steam means Microsoft got to fuck everyone who ever bought it in the ass without any spit. Thanks Notch you fat fucking prick.
>>713635395
Game has in game handbook for recipes and how to progress.
but for more technical stuff as to why mobs are spawning on your basement or why you cant find the ore you need is through the wiki.
>>713630340
they claim that they'll improve some skybox things for the upcoming update but I wouldn't hold my breath perse
altitude does impact temp but thats not too difficult.
>>713636416
the character you play as is literally a cyborg humanoid called seraph, this menu is his programming loading up and being teleported to earth
