Hot Shots Golf is now AI slop...
Texture generation is definitely one of the better uses of AI. I couldn't fault anybody for using it.
>>713615142 (OP)This might seem innocuous but if you let just a tiny bit of AI slide, you'll open the floodgates for a full tide of slop. Boycott any and all genAI.
>how dare you use ai instead of hiring pajeet code monkeys
Even AI jeets should probably be asking why the companyโs wasting time and energy on generating new garbage textures instead of just using the same fucking ones they no doubt have for the other games the studio produces. Why donโt these companies have โbanksโ of generic environment textures to reuse when needed? Itโs likely because theyโre getting benefits on the side for using some cryptobroโs latest AI model.
I figured most development studios would have a library of generic assets for this sort of purpose.

>>713615142 (OP)And this will make no difference on the final product

>>713615534had the industry only taken this stance regarding LGBT+ before it was too late...
>>713615142 (OP)This is maybe the thing that baffles me most about ai shit, devs that barely use it but then cut one tiny corner with it that couldn't possibly be saving more money than it will lose them.
if you're gonna cheap out cheap out on more, you won't lose any more buyers than just cheaping out on leaves will
>>713615534>but if you let just a tiny bit of AI slide, you'll open the floodgates for a full tide of slopBro AAA's have been using AI for stock textures for years
>>713615142 (OP)Complaining about this is actually like complaining that production lines use robots nowadays.
>>713615675Not if you pay someone ONCE to make them and then you hold the rights to them forever. This is just going from being a retard who rents the same Blockbuster video every week to paying someone to pirate the same copy of the video every new time you want to watch it. At that point just buy the fucking video.
>>713615142 (OP)But the characters looked so sexy..
If it's only AI generated backgrounds then it's nothing to get way too alarmed about.
>>713615534No I won't. Who gives a shit.
>>713615569If theyโre outsourcing them sometimes thereโs clauses preventing them from using them on other projects.
Good. AI is based and the future of game design
>>713615142 (OP)Asset creation is one of the more time consuming parts of making vidya so this is understandable. Allows people who aren't artists to make something decent looking without having to deal with hiring an artist.
Human made models and textures will still generally be better but this is s fine niche to fill
Itโs not hard to create low poly leaf textures. If they canโt be fucked doing the most basic thing then the whole game probably sucks
it looks like a disgusting shovelware wii game so that checks out
Funny how humans will spreg out about AI, yet it controls every facet of our lives. It listens to us, it knows what to sells us, we argue with it online. You might as well give up now and embrace reality.
>>713615142 (OP)fastest way to guarantee i'm not going to buy something
>>713615534You can't stop progress. AI is the future, Pandora's Box is open and there is NO closing it.
You have already lost.
>>713615734>LGBT+It was always there even if you didn't notice.
>>713615142 (OP)No warries m8 just give me a mulligan next hole and it's water under the bridge
>>713616432AI was always there by that logic
>>713615142 (OP)I genuinely don't care.
But also. Why even? Is it even easier to generate the textures than to just use some of the myriad of stock or royalty free textures around?
Golf is better with motion control
i quite literally could not care less. hope my favorite studios embrace it so they can give me my sloppa faster
>>713615624These guys have literally made dozens of golf games across multiple generations, even the character model in the screenshot is the same as it was in the switch version, they have an archive of all the tree and leaf textures a dev could ever ask for. No doubt what this is actually about is cost cutting, they probably lost a lot of staff and resources after getting dropped by Sony, you know this shit's on a shoestring budget when they need to skimp this much.
>>713615142 (OP)AI bros can't stop winning!!!
>>713615534This is never going to happen and the more you fight AI the more you're going to be a technologically clueless retard like boomers that refused to learn how to use the internet.
You're the boomer right now. The new generation isn't going to hate AI, it's new and exciting and they can get good at it and make cool shit. You're either going to be one of the people that also get good at AI, or you're going to be one of the people screaming and shitting when they get replaced with AI.
>>713615534>new thing: BAD
>>713615142 (OP)>releasing on same day as daemon x machina sequel>and borderlands4 releases a couple of days laterwas going to get a switch 2 but glad I didnt yet so i can get all these games for september
>>713615142 (OP)Oh no, think of all the trans game artists who they could have hired instead.
what a shame.
>>713617640>daemon x machina sequelHuh, I figured it would have bombed. I remember dropping it in like 15 seconds because the FOV was too low, I wonder if that was fixed or if the game is good.
the price better reflect the usage of AI.
$30 max or dead on arrival
>>713615142 (OP)perfect use case for AI. what artists would want to create mundane stuff like tree bark and leaves?

NOOOOO YOU CAN'T LET AI DO WORK FOR A MENIAL AND LABOUR INTENSIVE TASK THAT NOBODY WILL NOTICE OR CARE ABOUT IN THE END PRODUCT
>>713618180but countless royalty-free libraries already exist for this shit
this seems like they had to check off a box to make corporate happy
>small "artist" hands has written this
>>713615534>using photographs of leaves - GOOD>using ai art of leaves that look the same - BADRetard. This is literally the type of shit AI is perfect for. Instead of using the same shitty texture cd album from the 90s now you can make unique realistic textures ez pz. It's not like anybody makes this from hand.
Honestly they shouldn't have even added that footnote. Nobody would have noticed. I guess they were afraid of bot detection and legal issues.
>b-but my slippery slopeshut up

>>713618402you have to specify if you're using ai in your game on steam
>>713615569What is infuriating is that they do all just use the Megascans bank now, but it gets packaged with each game. Meaning every game now is 100gb, even though they all share assets. It would be really cool if you had a central repository so you didn't need multiple copies of the same asset.

Absolutely stupid to contain that, not just because of the "wah you're stealing our work and replacing us" thing but becasue that means they're protecting malicious and unintended misinfo that will shape how people view issues and vote. It's damaging at every level, but this administration aims to protects billionaires more than other administrations, mostly due to the record number of billionaires on the presidential cabinet. >>713623790Then it doesn't matter
>>713623937What is the price? Also cost cutting through AI usage should be happening at a larger scale if that's truly the case. It's like how available technology can actually increase costs; what was once just a follow call for your doctor is now a "visit" with tele health which costs you out of pocket, lengthens the time of the call, and has them billing your insurance and also limits scheduling since you can only see one doctor a day.
>>713615142 (OP)They don't call them Scamco for nothing.
>>713624336It's $55 in Canada so much less than a full priced $89 release (I think that's what AAA costs here I don't buy them)
>>713623285>zoomers think mixed digital drawing means AI
>>713624518With in game purchases? That is cool that it's on the cheap side, but ultimately leaf textures don't have to look like they were taken from a pool of data trained on the work of others.
>>713615142 (OP)Thanks for the heads up anon, I will now pirate your game. If you didn't put in the effort, you shouldn't expect me to pay full price. Simple as.

though it takes another artist to understand the difference between an artist's bad lines and AI's bad lines. i kinda just wish that people stopped focusing on the hand thing specifically now, there's so many other incredibly obvious signs these days
>>713623285>>713624565Nowadays, a pattern I see emerging is that artists and vehemently anti AI people seem to be worse than the average person at being able to differentiate AI art from regular art. Seems like some sort of cosmic irony at play.

>>713621927>Biden had 0 billionaireslmao, Reps get next to no money compared to Dems every election but still win most of the time
>>713615675Given that major companies are already suing AI Gen companies, and that there's already a bunch of copyright concerns surrounding AI in the USA, I feel like just paying the license for a damn leaf texture is the safer bet.
Or shit, go into MSPaint and make a pixel leaf texture. Call it the game's "Artstyle". Then it's totally free forever, no possibilities for problems.
But no, gotta save that .00000000001% of your budget, who cares about the future!
>>713624706>If you didn't put in the effort, they put effort where it actually deserved and was needed though.

>>713615142 (OP)Sony doesn't own the series anymore?
>>713625178Dems have been getting more money because the Republican supported, dem opposed Citizens United resulted in unlimited campaign money and dems are like the ones you bribe to get your way because they're expected to seek regulations and policy that protects workers and consumers at the expense of billionaires. Republicans already want small government, they're expected to be anti-regulation, pro-free market Reaganites.
All of that is to say is that there's a huge difference between Biden's cabinet that put restrictions on overdraft fees and Trump's second term billionaire cabinet that removed those restrictions on the first 100 days.
Remember to check the credits when the game comes out to see who's actually responsible for this, if you know what I mean.
The AI lawsuits are genuinely annoying and it's because judges are fucking retarded. Look up Ghetty v Stability.
>There was no definitive list of the copyright works that had been used to train Stable Diffusion and the defendant had only made limited admissions to the effect that โat least someโ had been used.
>The court rejected the claimant's argument that this was in fact a matter within the defendantโs own knowledge.
>Mr Stability AI does your LLM use copyrighted material in its training data

>>713625006internet being filled with dumb zoomers with no life experience. i dont think they can fathom inconsistencies being a human trait regardless of its exposure or monetary value
>>713625919one of the many reasons why AI judges can't come soon enough
>>713615142 (OP)Better than using jeets
>>713626174Remember that judge in Texas that put that comic book store owner on the sex offender registry because his store was in a school zone
LAND OF THE FREE
>>713625919That's scary because it lays the groundwork for AI to be used to absolve the users from responsibility. The chain of command in corporations often exists to create layers of ignorance to shield leadership, having AI get info from "lol I dunno" means that as long as the copying and plagiarism is proved to be unintended, it can pass. That may be the way out, disclaiming that it's all plagiarism, it's all theft, means it can never be user commercially.
>>713625919Trying to find the source off AI is pretty impossible anyway.
How the fuck would you even find out someone wrote in fucking AI? Even the most generic and safest of writing can come off as AI even when done by human hands.
>>713626124SOUL

This was definitely yet another case in the US where the fossil of a judge didn't know anything about the case he was presiding over.
>>713626465It's also a lot of "BUT IT'S MY STYLE" from people who had the balls to self publish in high school even though they look to have graduated from the school of How 2 Draw: Manga.

>>713627654Because computer software isn't a person.
I know a lot of AI niggers have this problem, because the chatbots got really good overnight and now they believe in magic and have suddenly stopped being able to distinguish between software and people.
Drawing fanart isn't considered copyright infringement, however, selling fanart can be considered copyright infringement. Copyright infringement is decided on a case-by-case basis. There are a lot of factors in place, context being one of them.
>Nobody gives a fuck about doujin artistsDifferent countries have different copyright laws.
Japan is a weird beast where you can totally ape someone's copyrighted work for a doujin, use AI generation in that work, and all that's kosher. But the moment you livestream a visual novel? Your ass is grass. Also, better not fuckin make a game where you summon a monster by throwing something.
The reason people care about AI doing it is because they've created a piece of software that just copy and pastes, but does so in a way that fools people that would get fooled by magic tricks.
The magician isn't actually floating.

>>713639308Anon? Get help. Please.
>>713639410Needing an unregulated technology so that technology improves is the anti-regulation logic. The internet being a method of sending child porn means that we have regulations on what can be sent through the internet. The internet and all that use it didn't end when we regulated this. Progress didn't stop. We can regulate AI and still have progress. The Big Beautiful Bill making it so that AI can't be regulated for 10 years doesn't make sense.
>>713615142 (OP)>gaming companies start using AI tech en masse>this droves away trannies, leftists, libtards, homosexuals, feminists, larry fink and other bad actors from buying and making vidya>it's white heterosexual male hobby againthis is how we win fellas
>>713639068No grandpa, it's going to change the Internet. You can learn it or you can get left behind.
>>713638060I accept your concession

No regulation. No copyright. Let the people's creativity reign
>>713615142 (OP)I could not give any less of a fuck
>>713639554>>713639942It's true. There's plenty of regulations on highly profitable industries, carving out 10 years of protections is just corporate dick sucking in real time while this administration hands over our asses.
Less hyperbolic, why the fuck would you allow AI generated propaganda and fake news? Why wouldn't you protect children, property, and privacy from silicone valley execs? It's purely transactional and we're worse off for it.
>>713639987>no copyrightThat would need to be the baseline. Without it, deregulation only serves those with wealth, power, and resources.
>>713615142 (OP)so why did sony sold off this ip exactly?
>>713640429You're talking about the company who thought Concord was their new star wars.
>>713640225It's not about allowing it, it's about embracing the inevitable rather than refusing to learn something that is clearly revolutionizing how things work and getting left behind as a result. You are literally like a boomer refusing to learn how the internet works because you think computers are stupid. You're massively crippling yourself out of some retarded sense of pride, and you WILL be replaced by everyone else who learns AI and does the things you can't.
You don't have a say in this change. It's coming. You can learn how to use it, or you can learn what happens when you don't.
>>713641320>protecting AI from regulations for 10 years is not about allowing itThat's specifically about allowing corporations to do what they want with it.
>it's about embracing the inevitable rather than refusing to learn something that is clearly revolutionizing how things work and getting left behind as a result.Regulations can help it along and be more beneficial. For example, AI can phase out radiologist jobs. Sucks for the radiologists, but if the patient can get work done much cheaper, it's a net benefit. Improving access to health care is good, so why not put in protections: if you're going to use AI to cut radiologists out, you need to pass those savings on to the patient?
Even if you don't like that, shutting the door on these protections for 10 years is absolutely nonsense. There are better ways to regulate regulations.
>>713641778I'm saying you're powerless to do anything about it and you're a retard for thinking otherwise. You don't have a say whether this will be allowed or not, you'd be better off learning it because it's coming and you're going to be replaced if you don't.

>>713642084If that were the case, the big beautiful bill providing 10 years of protection would be unnecessary. This isn't about refusing to use it as tool, I'm fine with using it for certain things. That's why I'm telling you lowering costs for radiology is good, but using regulations to make sure that happens, that jobs aren't just lost while costs stay the same, is also good.
