Do you ever actually read the in-game journals of RPGs?

A lot of it tends to be boring fluff.
The books in TES games come to mind. For every piece of actually interesting worldbuilding theres also a bunch of wordsalad junk.

Played Expedition 33 and listened to all the journals. They were normally interesting. Some Elder Scrolls stuff interests me too, because I sometimes roleplay characters and like to know some of the deeper lore.

On occasion. If it's something related to the in-game lore and written as if it were some in-universe book, I usually take my time reading it.

No. Fuck no.
Don't even listen to those audiologs and shit. If the characters don't tell it to me straight in real dialogue, it's either not important or the game is shit.
>b-but muh Zanzibart videos
>b-but you should be reading a piss-poor quality book excerpt instead of playing the game
Don't care. It's shit.

No. I just watch a lore video about the game instead if I found the World to be interesting enough. That initial interest is achieved via aesthetics, music, and characters.

>Post apo world full of cyborg werewolves, electric elder gods, and clone zombies
>Mix of Blade Runner, Jacob's Ladder, Metro, and Silent Hill
>Good balance of mystery, action, comedy, horror, and existential art piece
>Amazing grungy art style and character designs that emanate pure 2000s gothic atmosphere
>Fantastic soundtrack and iconic songs done by Western bands like Radiohead and Monoral
>3 varied main characters with great chemistry that perfectly fit with the "on the road" story motive when they start their journey arc
>Top tier heartless, bitchy, conspiracy obsessed, detective Amy Lee goth gf who awakens more human emotions throughout the story and changes as a person
>Wholesome goody two-shoe dork in love with the goth gf, whose story constantly takes unexpected turns and has a ludo kino twist that completely changes how you view the character
>Cute and funny Pino girl with a ton of charisma and personality in every scene. One of the most realistic portrayals of a child character in media
>Unique mix of genres. The plot changes from a noir detective story to shizo endless Groundhog Day, to a postapocalyptic Terminator action flick, to an episode of a Japanese game show, to a journey across the world, to a detective story again
>Yoko Taro was so blown away after watching it for the first time in 2006 that he got inspired to write Nier Replicant's setting, story, and characters based on it. He even hired the same Japanese VA who voiced Vincent to voice brother Nier
>HOLD MY HAND AND DRINK THE WINE. TAME MY HAND AND LET ME FOLLOW

Kino of the highest caliber desu. Just watching it now takes me back to the mid-00s when Japanese studios made tons of great dark psychological Seinen shows like this with a 10/10 atmosphere and feel. Nowadays Ergo Proxy really feels like one of a kind show

I used to, in some games where the lore is good.
TES and WoW had decent books. Also edgy stuff like that MGSV prequel's audio logs.
VTMB also had a cool segment where you visit sewers, which have a manager room with a journal in it, then you go down a bit and find another, older level with an older supervisor room with a journal written in more archaic english and which is 100 years older.
