Verso has the right idea. Alicia will die after enough time in the painting - this is inevitable - it's only a matter of time, and, when that happens, Renoir will absolutely destroy it for good out of grief due to losing his daughter, or worse. When that happens, Lumiere will inevitably be gone regardless, except it would have taken Alicia and strained the family even more than it already was. Everything is fucked regardless, might as well end things before they get worse.

I go back and forth on this. It mostly depends on if Aline left of her own volition when she disappeared or if she was forced out because of the fight or if she just left but is still in the canvas. I lean towards she left the canvas of her own will after Renoir's speech so you're probably right. After Alicia's death, best case scenario Renoir loses himself next and then Aline tries to get him out or they both live until death together in the canvas.
