For 20 years the bones of what constitute a good video game have remained unmolested. All of these games are phenomenally executed and genuinely revolutionary in their own way. Maybe they're not to literally everyone's taste but they're certainly not THE MOST overrated. If I were to submit a candidate for the MOST overrated game it'd probably be something like TW3 because that game's reception is purely vibes with almost nothing redeemable about its gameplay.

Any MMO/second job game with a large enough kennel of stockholm syndrome patients is almost guaranteed to actually be more overrated than anything else you can actually think of as being overrated.
Most things that are widely considered overrated still have good elements in their bones.

But Dread is a solid entry for what it is. It's made Fusion a bit redundant for me because it has most of the same strengths(outside of badly fumbling the atmosphere) but fixes some of Fusion's bigger weaknesses.

The game playing well for movement and combat, and not getting drowned in its own story are important to metroid, what the fuck are you talking about? If it wasn't so linear then I'd rank it above serviceable(because that's another big one) but the teleportals were a copout for an organically connected world and the devs only paid shallow lip service to sequence breaking, power bombs were a slap in the face.
It does many important things well but falls on its face in just as many other important areas so I call it middle of the road for that reason. If you played more than one or two entries you'd agree with me, but after reading my post maybe you will now and start apologizing.
