For this game in particular it makes most of the dialog and character interactions pretty predictable. Main quest is hard carried by the presentation and integration of gameplay into the story.

Fortunately dialog and cutscenes are 100% skippable and I like the exploration and combat.

I normally would be fine with it (in fact a lot of fiction starts like this, but it's rare that the MC is just hated the whole way through) but feminist writers especially in the game industry absolutely love that shit for obvious reasons, they're femcel man hater losers. So now that I can't tell for sure what the writers' intentions are, then no I'd rather not see that especially in videogames where the player is often expected to self insert more (and some people, mainly manchildren can't even enjoy fiction without self inserting which is an issue in itself)
