What's the point in using Linux, when they do shit like this? It's clearly much safer to stay on Windows.

Ehm, what's the point of removing 32bit support in the first place? It's probably a few kb at most and it doesn't hurt anyone.
Is there a real meaningful reason from a technical standpoint?

It makes sense, but this shit ALWAYS happens and its the result of developing double downstream, if your distro isnt just ARCH/DEBIAN with a couple of special arguments then this shit WILL happen. Otherwise you become manjaro which is like Arch but fucked up

Most of the time, it's just what the devs were using at the time they decided to make a fork.
Mint quite literally only used Ubuntu for this reason and they're slowly migrating to just Debian.

Because every single new version of windows comes with
>more bloatware
>more spyware (now we are getting into kernal level spyware with TPM THAT LITERALLY CANNOT BE TURNED OFF BECAUSE ITS INSIDE YOUR CPU)
>more enshittification
>less personalization
>more ads
>more microsoft telling you what you are allowed to do with your machine

im not swapping to 11. 10 will be my final hurah with windows and its sad to see just how far it has fallen. Ive been using it since xp.. i lived through vista.. i saw it get better with 7.. only to shit the bed again with 8 (8.1 was still shit). 10 is garbage and i hate it for being so bloated and filled with telemetry spyware that you cant turn off and now 11 is 100x worse.

I cannot believe anyone who isnt a shill would unironically defend windows now that we know TPM exists. They LITERALLY PAID CPU MANUFACTURERS TO PUT HARDWARE SPYWARE INTO ALL NEW CPUS SO THAT THEY CAN ALWAYS SPY ON YOU. WHAT PART OF THIS DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND.

you fuckers had it coming. People have been warning everyone about RedHat shitting on the whole linux ecosystem for decades now.
You have 3 realistic choices if you don't want to get assfucked in the next 5 years. Arch Nix and Debian. Even that is debatable. And no gentoo is not an opion as it is being absorbed from the inside by alphabet.

It's no conspiracy. It's just corpos using their influence to steer linux in a direction that suits them and nobody else. Just look and the linux foundation members and the two largest distributors of commercial linux distors and tell me these people value their consumers let alone the linux ecosystem at all.

can i pirate ableton on linux? i know you can get davinci resolve working on linux despite them only officially supporting two random unknown distros, and you can fuck with audio enough to make a modern audio interface work, but what even is software on linux? i assume it isnt using exes or some shit. im pretty much happy to switch at any point but idk shit about software on linux, and i steal literally everything i use unless its 100% free, but ableton is a must for me. should i just dual boot? iirc vsts and shit are kind of fucky on linux, and i use a ton of cracked shit. i could just use windows for production and linux for everything else i guess.

Basically Ubuntu and especially Mint "just werk" better than debian out of the box and looks/works more like Windows which for normies is a big deal. For vidya steam does all of the heavy lifting so it's a matter of getting Nvidia drivers and steam installed which from what I remember is much easier on Ubuntu.

most windows software nowadays just werks on linux thanks to wine, proton and protonGE
there are a few ways of getting them to work but i usually just add the .exe to steam as a non-steam-game, then in properties and compatibility, set the proton version i want it to use.

google around, with a big piece of software like ableton i'm sure there are always a few other people who have tried just that on their distros.
for example, this guy got it working on endeavourOS
https://forum.endeavouros.com/t/ableton-live-10-working-awesome-in-wine/11330

but yeah, apart from that it might also be a good idea to dualboot linux and windows. so you can fall back to windows for the few programs that won't work on linux no matter what

However, one day microsoft decide to insert fucking FAGGOT flags into my desktop without my consent.
I worked for the IT department in a very blue-collar company. People used to have a view of my screen sometimes.
I don't live in fucking california or a first-world distopia where people think this shit is acceptable. I'm glad nobody saw that shit.
That was the day I installed linux and have never looked back.
Linux also gave me some pretty useful skills and and I have a way better job now.

linux (and any other OS for that matter) has certain data structures to keep time, these are incompatible between 32 and 64 bits. the amount of effort to keep backwards compatibility would require massive rewrites in everything that depends on time, which is pretty much everything. you can't realistically expect that to be maintained in an opensource community

It's all bullshit. Linux is standardized to the every minute component. 99% distros in the ecosystem use the same c library, the same coreutils, the systemd suite. Not only is it a monopoly but all your packages come from a centralized source, it's bad when jewgle does it by the way. The only freedom you get is the freedom to chose a desktop environment. Swapping components is improbable because of everything depending on each other, the dependency hell. And yeah if you wanna see how shitty it really is you can look at arch. You get all the latest software, but the cracks of the package management start to show. A single dependency update not on testing can nuke multiple programs, so you have to downgrade it and the programs that it nuked. It's because linux package managers only support a single version of a library and/or program installed on your system. There is constant manual intervention required, like the recent linux-firmware package. The package manager is so basic that it cannot uninstall a package and the install the new one, it can only upgrade to the latest version automatically. It's garbage made by incompetent trannies that haven't figured out the basics like package management for three decades, so they waste time with lts releases and are trying to cut their work by purging shit without a "usecase" in their feeble tranny minds.

RedHat is sabotaging the Linux desktop because they don't want competitors entering the market and eating their share.
Imagine for second what happens when Linux gets 30% marketshare and all big corporations (including MS) decide to enter.

Linux is literally full of actual leftoids, they throw tantrums every 10 or so days, why do you think that shit never advances and there are so many fucking distros.

two main distro's suggested for new linux users are mint and ubuntu, not fedora. You're complaining about something that should ideally not touch you as a new linux user.

They are not serious about desktop for desktop activities the average PC user does.
They have WSL but that's for attracting the devs back since windows sucks for software development.

a natural consequence of a free and open source project is that the mentally unwell will also join, especially nowadays with the autistic community being gaslit into becoming trans and progressive. This doesn't change that it's leagues better than microsoft having its entire microscope rammed up your ass watching every undulation.

The mentally ill have build their own fortified community with the help of the corporations that rule them and don't let anyone sane in. They even don't let other mentally ill fags because they are not mentally ill enough, hyprland and Pop_OS (cosmic devs) are good example.

You can use any distro you want, just install the packages you need. It's no different from installing windows programs.

Linux is worthless for actual normal use, and only really good for very specialized, custom fit applications, or for fucking around with as a hobby. ESPECIALLY whichever special snowflake configuration you're using. Unfortunately, the only real alternative is bloated with mandatory, unremovable malware.

Commercially available computers were a mistake. Magic should be left to the actual wizards that studied it, not left in the hands of peasants.

>the only real alternative is bloated with mandatory, unremovable malware.
hence why linux is the only real option left. If I had a choice, windows7 would still be my primary O/S, but it's too dated, and the app to update it for win8/10 apps likely cant make up for how dated it is, so linux is the next best alternative.
