there are a few ways of getting them to work but i usually just add the .exe to steam as a non-steam-game, then in properties and compatibility, set the proton version i want it to use.
google around, with a big piece of software like ableton i'm sure there are always a few other people who have tried just that on their distros.

but yeah, apart from that it might also be a good idea to dualboot linux and windows. so you can fall back to windows for the few programs that won't work on linux no matter what
