Metaphor's ending was everything that I wanted Hundred Line Last Defense Academy's ending to be. That game slapped me in the face and called me an idiot for wanting a good ending. Metaphor patted me on the back and gave me an amazing finale.

The tone of this game was all over the place. The designs of the humans and some of the story beats like the reveal of the child eating monster in that town or Heismay's son being trampled until he was unrecognizable and the game feeling the need to include that level of detail are super dark, but then the other 75% of the game is G-rated 4Kidz dub friendshipslop tier, the MC and his friends address all of the genuine issues in the world like racism and economic hopelessness by saying they're going to make the world better with no actual plan to accomplish it. Felt so fucking jarring at times.
