I see no possible negative outcomes of this and I wish Square Enix all of the best in it's final endeavor.

Literally all they had to do was release a FF game with Scarlet Grace's battle mechanics.

This reminds me when a particular one of those 2023/2024 shitty globohomo-made-by-committee-corposlop titles mega-bombed, and articles and I think even a direct press release by the publisher were coping that "we guess gamers don't want single-player FPSs anymore". It's not the genre, you fucking morons. it's the pandering to everyone except the people who play your games, the condescending holier-than-thou attitude, the in-your-face insulting and belittling of your core audience. that's what's causing these titles to flop. that and they're just genuinely un-fun and in many cases broken garbage, because they've driven out, silenced, or stymied any genuine creative and skilled talent in the industry.

I honestly don't get the hangups really that some fans have.
I have played every single mainline FF game, and then most of the spin offs. I am a fan of the series. But I don't think them having turned based combat or real time action combat is bad in either instance. I enjoy both and think they can both provide different styles of game to the story they want to tell. And as a game that largely is "new" every time with thematic elements/consistencies, I don't really see an issue with this.
People screaming "FF will die if it doesn't embrace real time combat!" are just as weird to me as the people screaming "FF will die if it doesn't stick to turn based roots!"
All the combat systems vary in some ways, from super strict turns like FFX, to an ATB system, to even real time action like 16 now.
I enjoy them all just for different reason.
Square-Enix can suck my cock though. Upper management has absolutely lost touch with their consumers anymore.

The ff7 remake is done for, it has too much of Nomura's chuunibyo kingdom hearts stench on it to be salvaged. The idea is for them to MAYBE learn their lesson and make future titles better, not just try to make everything into an action game with barely any rpg elements. It would drive down the cost and dev time for sure if they just stuck with turn-based but SE has been pissing and burning money for so long I don't think they care about budget at all at this point.

What do you mean? There isn't much difference between "JRPGs" and classic CRPGs. Classic CRPGs just give you more freedom to create your own characters, but turn based is still turn based, or whatever active time or real time with pausing or whatever that keeps it form being a full on action game.
