Imagine being so dead inside that seeing someone enjoy a smooth framerate makes you seethe. Bro, if a decade-old game running like butter is enough to make me smile, maybe that says more about how good the card isโฆ or how badly you need a hug.
Touch grass, install a driver, and let people enjoy things.
>>713664119 (OP)Just buy AMshit video cards if you're poor.
>>713674971Pretty much. Meanwhile everybody blames Intel and AMD for not producing massive quantities of cards and putting them at a price where they'd take a loss. Sad reality is that the fewer cards you can sell the more expensive they are, and it doesn't make sense to produce hardware that won't sell, let alone do that and take a loss.
AMD really over produced RDNA 2 hardware, and it was at prices that are in the current market unbelievable but hardly anyone bought it other than Linux users.
>>713670117>>713670278To be fair, I wouldn't order anything straight from the menu. I would take advantage of their "app deals" and rewards from the app. I can typically get a quarter pounder, medium fry, and a medium coke for about $9 when using in app deals and/or rewards.
>>713676034Flood the market with cheap cards to get repeat customers in the future as people are more likely to stick with whatever they got last time. The justification is there amd is just fine with the status quo.
>>713676304Would be nice if it works that way, but it doesn't. AMD already sells superior hardware for a deep discount, and they get no advantage from it.
Even if AMD did 'flood the market' if the only people who buy them are Linux users, it doesn't gain them any ground outside of maybe growing the Linux market a bit more.
They've even tried it already. AMD produced GCN 4 and RDNA 2 cards on exactly that premise, and then there were such large surpluses of those cards for years just sitting on shelves it hurt AMD more than it helped.
The 5080 is probably the worst value for money NVIDIA has ever made.
>>713677140>AMD already sells superior hardware for a deep discount
>>713676240>need to have an account to use itThat clown is not getting my McData
>>713677140Amd didn't try shit. They produced more cards than usual to feed the crypto fags with the cards and charged more than everything available right now only becoming cheaper after they were old and busted at the tail end of their lifespan. People don't want to pay large sums of money for cards over a year old and that applies to nvidia just the same which is why they constantly do super refreshes.
I think I'm done participating. After my current 5090 build becomes obsolete I'm just going to play emulators on shitty cheap PCs and on my phone.
>Just get a console
nah, smartphones are good enough, I don't really want to play new games anyway.
>>713677427You may not like it but it is true. That is where the 'fine wine' comes from. AMD sells better and more future proof hardware.

>$999 for 16GB

No, I don't think so.
>$999
That's about as laughable as finding a $2000 5090. Your actual prices for a 5080 were much higher even before the Trump Dump 2.0 tariff excuse garbage and are now averaging around $1600 (a few AIB may be as low as $1300-ish, but most are $1500-1700 and a couple above that ) . In any event, the 5080 is not the sweet spot, it never has been - its basically an overpriced and under- VRAM'd alternative to the 5090. For Nvidia, the 5070 and especially 5070 Ti are probably the best "sweet spot" for those who don't want to pay for a 5090, but honestly, at that point you'd better off going AMD with the
>9070 XT / 9070
Which is generally a bit cheaper than the (street priced, available, AIB) 5070 Ti / 5070 models it has comparable performance. Especially given that FSR4 and the upcoming Redstone is at or beyond parity to DLSS suite and these "mid-high" level cards will require users to make use of these tech if you're wanting to get maximum performance out of ultra specs path tracing unoptimized UE5 garbage at 4K, FSR4's parity has cme a long way. Atop this, buying AMD's cards means not endorsing NV's bullshit behavior so that's a good thing. Overall a 9070 XT is at least $100-200 cheaper and at most 5% slower than an 5070XT, so its a better price performance without much downside. Most AIB cards range from the $700s-900s for 9070XT, where the 5070Ti range from the 800s-1100s currently and of course depend on availability.

New GPUs are exclusively for jacking off to AI, not games. You don't need anything more than a 3060 at MOST for gaming.

If you have no input at all though, that sounds like a worse problem than the GPU.

Greedy asians have fucked up the chip market.
>>713691249Why wouldn't the same incentives apply to them too? If you can make really good GPUs you can also make really good AI datacenter GPUs.
At this moment, the sweet spot is to pair an RTX 5080 with an R7 9800X3D.
>>713691810Nah, that's still overkill for 99% of usecases.
>>713691249>when is a company (probably chinese) going to come in and give us cheaper competition? This is not going to happen unless some chinese company steals 100% of Nvidia's engineering data. The reason Nvidia gets to jew as much as they do is because they're always the first ones to pioneer an idea and force it into existence, and they've built a moat with this approach. Best we can hope for is that eventually Nvidia engineers get tired of the company and go band together in some other company.

>>713691975A 4 grand rig won't last you 7-8 years, not anymore, not in this day and age.
It's far more efficient to do incremental upgrades and replace individual parts instead.

>>713678072>You may not like it but it is true. That is where the 'fine wine' comes from. AMD sells better and more future proof hardware.Recently this has been completely false for Radeon cards. The RX5000-RX7000 cards were initially hailed for not falling for any recent memes but now they are aging like shit because they're stuck choosing between FSR and TAA, and because their RT/PT performance is shit. They were basically just a stopgap until Radeon figured out how to pivot towards more future-oriented GPUs.
The RX9000 series went into the complete opposite direction regarding design philosophy (they're basically AMD-branded Nvidia cards with slightly better pricing) and it's a tacit admission by Radeon that the RX5000-RX7000 lineup aged poorly.

I don't understand the "only poors buy AMD". For every AMD card you have an equivalently priced and slower nvidia card. Anyone who can afford AMD can afford nvidia. They simply chose not to buy the slower/less VRAM card.
>>713715052Why did you buy AMD?
The US dollar is done and everyone has been forced into poverty.

>>713715823lucky for the world that the only place which uses US Dollar is america.
>>713715507Because I wasn't about to pay $800 for the abomination that is the 5070ti. $600 for the 9070 XT was already too much but I knew that would be the lowest the card would ever be for at least the next year if not ever.

>>713664420yeah a small but good number of vidya are still worth it, however they don't really need this kind of GPU power.
>>713722698That's what I intend to do. Seems like prices on everything are retardedly high now though.
>>713722921I'd get whatever am5 cpu and mobo you can comfortably afford, 32 gigs of ddr5 ram and save for a 9070 xt or whatever new and card is coming out this year. You'll just be completely hamstrung if you upgrade your gpu now. Am5 is gonna be supported for a long time too, so you can upgrade your cpu way down the line.
>>713722921If you're still running a PCIE 3/4 mobo then you should go for the 9060XT since it won't be gimped too hard by that. Nvidias cards run like shit on older hardware.
>>713722921They're not nearly as retarded as they were a few years ago but they're still kinda bad, at least for GPUs. Though I remember MSRP for my old 970 was like 330 or something, which is about 440 in 2025 dollars 11 years later, so maybe the prices aren't so crazy. The thing Nvidia did was basically downgrade the numbering system to sell the idea of a x090 card, but also stopped making the x050 stuff outside of laptops. So that 440 today for a 5060 ti is still kind of in line with how they've bracketed their tiers, but they changed the numbering for marketing reasons, and inflation from the last few years was rough.
>>713723993There is no card on the planet that is gimped by pcie 4.
