I just want them to focus on content again, man. So many good pieces of fun furniture were fucking absent from New Horizons, and the game felt fucking empty as shit. I don't play Animal Crossing for tool degredation and fucking recipes, and the success of NH means future installments are going to have the same lack of coziness and furniture.

Real talk? Hope is a new AC which includes more of the New Leak/Welcome Amiibo era stuff of the series to do with the design aspects of NH and keeping villagers. Fear is ACNH 2.0 upgrade (a la Welcome Amiibo update to New Leaf) which is largely some minor cosmetic updates to the graphics (ACNH is confirmed to run *slightly* better with heavy islands like the Silent Hill island) but it adds some more minor things to the game but not much else. No new AC game for the life of the Switch 2.

there was a "leak" about it being set in a city, and had more emphasis on multiplayer content including minigames
if that ends up being true, it will already be much better than the trash they released on the switch
i also hope they tone down the dollhouse decoration and design codes crap

It'll either be that or another expansion. Whatever it is for the love of god let me fucking restart my island and keep my catalog like New Leaf. Fuck these devs are on the same one step forward, two steps back bullshit Gamefreak is on.

I hope they keep basically the same level of town customisation as NH with a bigger catalogue of furniture and items etc. but do a massive overhaul of villager interaction mechanics.

The villager dialogue in NH is pretty dire at times. Sometimes you'll talk to a villager, choose the "What's up?" option and they'll just say "Today's a good day!" and that's all. The cookie-cutter nature of the 8 personality types was so obvious in NH that it made villager interaction almost feel like an afterthought.

If NH revolutionized the customisation aspect of AC, I hope a new game revolutionizes the social aspects.
