I remember GTA4 being blue-filtered most than piss, but I guess it was time-of-day/weather dependent (aka, used correctly for colour moods).

I'm still annoyed DX:HR Director's Cut removed the piss filter due to the complaints, due to breaking environment shadows at the same time.

I don't know, but it must suck growing up as a kid in the generation where your favourite games, Skyrim, GTA5, and Fortnite, are still the main three things people are playing a decade later across 3 console generations.

Amazing how making games has gotten easier than ever but they take longer than ever to come out. In the boomer 360 days you would get a sequel every year or two and a new IP would take maybe four years. Nowadays you wait five years for a sequel and you don't get new IPs at all. Fucking grim.

Are zoomers even aware of what they're missing out on or this really all they know?

Like in the time from RDR 2 to now Rockstar would have released four games.

The game has incredible attention to detail, but it was still building off the blocks that GTA5 set before it tech-wise, and the gameplay is still 'that' Rockstart 3rd-person gameplay, complete with clunky animation-prioritized movement. I don't know why that game took as long to make as it did.

>>713681697
I honestly believe it's because the people who pioneered a lot of 3d gaming just retired/left the industry, and the people coming in can't software engineer/playtest for the fucking life of them, so they're stuck working within the constraints of their chosen 3rd-party engine.

Do you think they just press the filter button five minutes before shipping? It's a central aspect of the artstyle decided on in pre-production.

The most I'd expect is saturation levels pushed more on the textures, since their piss-filter colour-grading would mute it even worse than the current end result.

it is overcorrection for art styles that aren't totally cohesive. an increase in lighting effects made it harder to have the colours of your objects cohesively work together. a colour filter blends everything together slightly and makes it slightly easier to look at.

The whole picture is yellow regardless. Open that on an image editor and crank down only the yellow, it'll become like 80% gray. Compare it to the original DX.
