Sly 3 banked a lot on its gimmicks and it didn't have as good a scene selection as stuff like Wizard, or the Contessa or Jean Bisson, but there were some really good moment there too yeah. The talk about ASCII still rings in my head sometimes, the writers don't get enough credit for making the gang fun but still somewhat insightful nd sincere.

Honestly it does still hold up, but growing up and knowing what the whole Feiticeiro thing was meant to be a callback to the start with the Wizard callsign was very funny. Gave it a lot of charm once I figured it out, only real mistake in the dub but otherwise it was indeed very kino. Kinda surprising to see someone else from here, but I guess in a way Sly was pretty big in europe exactly because of all of its dubs, especially in Finland given how much people love him there.

Dubbing games into Finnish was pretty unusual unless it was some edutainment game. It was also advertised on TV. Both of those things probably contributed to it being so popular here.

Got a question how come Sly as a series failed to sell? Ratchet still sells. But Sly never made it. Shame the series never had any impact. Even Gex sold much better than Sly.

Wonder if we will ever get a new Sly game but if they choose a realistic art style that's going to be awful. I don't want Sly to look like Rocket Racoon.

Sony always heavily invested into Portugal for some unknown reason, so Sony exclusives always get dubbed, at least they used to. That's why it's probably the country where Sony is/was most dominant. Not sure which came first, did they invest in the country after it became super popular there or vice versa?

Shut up already yes it did and yes it makes sense for Penelope to dump Bentley. She's a CRIMINAL. She's not a good person. Anyone remember the intro of Grand Theft Auto 3 how does that start? The main dude is a criminal who gets betrayed and dumped by his criminal girlfriend. Why are you surprised a criminal bitch has no love to give her criminal boyfriend? Get over it. And Penelope being a two faced liar duplicitous bitch with a false identity is how she made her illegal money BEFORE she met Bentley. That should tell you this bitch is rotten from the get go.

If anything I can't believe how stupid you all are. You would make a deceptive woman very happy as she takes you to divorce court. Stupid men like you deserve to get abused by immoral women.

Every Sly game sold merely one million units. The series managed to only sell so little despite being on Sony's most successful console. By now with the Collections I think sales are like five million units sold in total but that's low overall.

Sly simply never really gained much of a fandom so the sales were always rather low. And since development costs keep increasing no way Sony is going to waste money on a Sly game because nothing indicates it will sell grandiose. The last time Sony gave one of their cartoony games a chance was the remake of Medievil and it sold disappointingly.

Sly 3 was vastly inferior to 2 but still had some fun moments, like that guy who wanted to be buried in his mother's pasta sauce. And Sly even later wonders aloud to Bentley if the dude was not crazy but instead it is them who are missing an entire world of taste. That was great.

Sly was successful, and made Sucker Punch some bank, but comparatively it hit lower than other franchises. Jak 1 alone hit 3.6 million, and Ratchet and Clank was hitting mostly over 3 million sales per game until the PS3/PSP era. With Ghost of Tsushima hitting over 13 million, chances are low that we'll see another Sly, except as an easter egg.

All the pieces are in place for Sly 3 to have been as great as 2, it just really needed an extra year or so of development time to iron everything out.
>give Dr. M more of a presence: he's the main villain and important to Sly's family history but weirdly absent for most of the game
>change the opening level to Sly and Bentley botching a two-man heist on Kaine Island and realizing that they'll need way more help to deal with Dr. M's bullshit. Alternatively, have them break into the prison where McSweeney is being held and follow up with the first Kaine Island visit
>make the villains connected to Dr. M somehow: I like that Murray and the new recruits have their own problems to deal with and that independent threats make the world feel bigger, but a unified threat like the Fiendish Five and Klaww Gang is more satisfying to handle
>give the Panda King and Dimitri more to do, and give the Panda King a full-fledged Flame Fu moveset to compliment his fireworks
>rework the Guru and Penelope's missions so they feel less like reskinned Murray and Bentley missions: the Guru being a mystic with cool magical and psychic powers has loads of potential for fun scenarios in particular
>give Australia a proper villain, or give the Mask of Dark Earth an actual personality and powers beyond "make things evil and BIG"
>bring back Clue Bottles, treasure runs, and recon missions before starting a new chapter in earnest
I could make more suggestions but this is all just off the top of my head.

I'm a 3d platformer connoisseur, but I do not know of any that are stealth centric or use the mini open world + heist setup. the only thing that comes to mind, and it's a huge stretch, but animations of The Big Catch (demo) feel very Sly-like to me. The protag has the graceful feather-touch Sly has, though not as floaty and certainly not as forgiving. I would love for a full blown knockoff, like what GearGrit is for Jak 2, but I suppose Sly just doesn't have that big a fanbase.

>>713697509
>they keep making the same game again and again
Uncharted plays nothing like TLOU which plays nothing like GoW. Beyond those there really are no other 'movie games' (unless you'd count Until Dawn lol). Even then, GoW drops the Uncharted style pacing when you're not doing main quest stuff and are instead exploring the Zelda like overworld.
