>>713689638I never understood why certain games would rather outright delist a game rather than just push an update to remove the licensed content. Alan Wake originally was going to get delisted before doing that and they made a big stink about it before updating it, but then just a year ago when the license to Space Oddity ran out they just updated it before the license ran out. I get it for shit like car games where they've got models of actual cars that they can't really 'de'-brand but for music I don't get it.
>>713689684It's stupid because everyone that bought it on Steam still has it. The game is preserved.
So the โremasterโ is based on the console version. Although it's a downgrade in many areas, it has new graphic effects and the optimizations of the second game. Even so, the remaster runs really badly. They should have used the engine from the third game, which is really well optimized. You can see that from KC
>>713707109I never understood why they get such shit licensing deals.
>Look I give you money I can sell this forever fuck you.Simple really.
Electronic Arts would never do something like delisting a game from Steam, but not from GOG.
It is usually the other way around. They planned to drop GOG and Zoom Platform for good, but GOG had a fandom that saved them.
However, GOG never got re-releases of old games like C&C and The Sims.
Which is why this is so puzzling to me.
>>713707109It does take dev time (which = money) for the new devs to download and install the original build, set up the development environment, read old dev's code to how to take the music out, and make sure the game won't break if you take the music out, and set up an environment to push the update.

>>713689472 (OP)>developers should be forced to publish their games on steamWeird hill to die on but okay
The steam release sucked dick since it had SecuROM or whatever copy protection its original release had, and that means limited installations per copy (I refunded it immediately when I bought it from a sale and found out about it). The GOG release is DRM-free.
It's still on gog and is currently on 75%
