Small correction for those who are interested. Gonna reply bit seriously(stupid thing in /v/ I know but you know info is info)
For the initiative
>do you want devs to run servers forever?
No. Tools and proper eol(end of life) plan is what the initiative is made for. Be it updates that allows you to play without the servers, or community/dedicated servers that are able to be run without the publisher/dev interference
>Do you want to make live service illegal
No. But it needs above regulations.
>You think the government should meddle with videogames
Preferably no, but we need the eol stuff at least and government regulations for them would be amazing. Then just hands off and let the devs do their thing. Most developers would happily allow their game to live longer, but it is most of the time publisher thing that wants the servers down and players to move to their new game.
I wouldn't want to bring him up, but PirateSoftware is part of the publishing team of Rivals of Aether 2, that is why I PERSONALLY THINK he is so vocally against the initiative.

Link for those Europebros who haven't signed it: https://eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#/screen/home

>go to park
>can buy a "day pass" that explicitly says you're there for the day
>go to hotdog stand
>menu shows pricing for each item

All you're doing is highlighting how the rest of the world is perfectly able to buy and sell products and services without needing to scam customers.

Why do video game publishers NEED areas of ambiguity in the law? Why do they NEED to force people to sign a contract via EULA after they've bought the product? Why are video games so special that they're somehow immune to the basic common logic rules that are successful everywhere else in society?

It's funny because even if you misinterpret what Ross was saying the overwhelming response would still be a resounding 'yes'.
Developers have zero respect for their customers and customers need to man up and treat developers in kind.
A developer is the customer's bitch. They are supposed to do what we demand and if they don't then all their IP should be pirated with extreme prejudice and daddy government should step in. Developers should be walking on fucking eggshells trying not to violate consumer laws.
Consumers are gods and all that developers are fit to do is lick our boots clean and cater to our whims. If you disagree you are a massive faggot cuck.

Wait, are those the misconceptions of the amerimutts against this?

>do you want devs to run servers forever?
No one will be forced to keep servers running.
The games just need to be left in a playable state offline. Easily doable with bots.

>Do you want to make live service illegal
This won't happen, in fact.

>You think the government should meddle with videogames
Governments should, and have, to fight against corporations, because corporations stronger than governments are a dystopia.

Their fault for not designing it to be possible to play offline. There's no reason a game like Concord couldn't have a LAN mode.
