To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Death Stranding. The gameplay is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the trigger buttons most of the traversal will go over a typical gamer's head. There's also Kojima's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his writing - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Hollywood movies, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these references, to realize that they're not just films - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Death Stranding truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the meaning behind Amelie's existential catchphrase "Like Mario and Princess 'Beach'" which itself is a cryptic reference to videogame classic, Super Mario Bros. 2. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kojima's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Norman Reedus tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Is he sucking his dick because ladders were also in Donkey Kong and vehicles are also in Mario Kart? That’s just Asians being “simple.” Between the 80s and 00s I think everyone was fed this interpretation that Japanese/Koreans live in this sci-fi hellhole with all sorts of cool shit, robotics, various sophistications but if you take a month to dip into their language you’ll realize the majority are just as basic and one-lane minded as Westerners. It’s so fucking weird honestly, I don’t know how to expand on this thought but hopefully you get what I’m saying.

Based Kojima autist. You're absolutely right, only a true connoisseur of cinema, geometry, and bodily fluids can comprehend the full scale of Death Stranding. People mocked the walking-WALKING-gameplay, but completely missed the deep subtext on the fragility of human connections, the societal decay of on-demand delivery logistics, and the revolutionary idea that peeing can be a literal and metaphorical tool for growth. Every bridge is a poem. Every BB a scream into the void. Kojima didn't just make a game-he birthed a new genre using Decima engine components and sheer willpower. I’ll drink a Monster Energy Ultra in your honor, brother.

All works of fiction, even those most critically esteemed, are but scribbles compared to the pure unadulterated brilliance Kojima has created with Death Stranding.

It's like comparing MS DOS to a single cell organism. Each line of code is meticulously strung together to weave an experience that only extremely intelligent individuals can understand. Each animated blade of grass alone speaks of deep meaning, touching on the human condition.

Where Shakespeare waddled, and where Super Mario Bros 2 walked, Death Stranding 2 sprints faster than a horse spewing diareah on crack.

Fuck, I think I just came.

I never understood people calling Death Stranding a midwit filter but after having played it myself I definitely get it. This game is intentionally designed to not appeal to everyone but for the very few that do understand the appeal it can be such an enjoyable experience. I haven’t had this much fun with a game since I was a kid
