>Well, Stan, the truth is video games probably aren't gonna make you kill people, and it most likely isn't gonna fund terrorism, but, well son, video games make you feel fine with being bored, and it's when you're bored that you should be learning some new skill or discovering some new science or being creative. If you play video games you may grow up to find out that you aren't good at anything.
This quote changed my life

One point I never see brought up is that heโ€™s streamer since thereโ€™s a chat. You can get ad revenue, donations (not charity donations but viewers will send money to the streamer) as well as sponsorship opportunities. So when recording these attempts he was likely getting a lot of money, oftentimes more than an actual job nowadays.

True but itโ€™s a lot better than the old days. Sure thereโ€™s social media and people will bother you but compared to say the 90s or 2000s most people are on their phones or computers all day.

Cute image, it gives me some idea of how you determine self worth. My idea of happiness is to seek to do things that make me happy. Your idea of happiness, apparently, is to deny yourself like a slave for people's shallow approval.

But I'm sure you've collected enough attaboys that you don't need mine too. Hope it makes you happy, 'cause it wouldn't do it for me.

stay out of vidya. you're not supposed to have fun. biologically speaking life's not supposed to be fun. life's supposed to be a constant struggle for survival. not developing any skills to use and build a career from it is like an animal being born crippled in the wild. develop your skills while you still can.

I do what I have to do to survive just like everyone else. The difference here is I spend as much time on me as I possibly can, everything else is secondary. For me, that means time playing videogames as opposed to curing cancer or collecting cars or whatever, I don't give a shit. It's only a difficult concept to grasp for those who have a slave mentality, AKA people who care more about what others think of them than they do themselves.

Video games, old video games teach you that you need to put effort to win anything.
However after you learn this lesson, you need to apply it on something.
Don't stop playing, and don't stop playing hard games, but do fucking use your new skill.

What about those who do this on reverse? I worked a corporate ladder for almost fifteen years and found it intensively unfulfilling and after around two failed attempts at long term relationships (and marriage/building family) i just came full circle and sat back in the chair to enjoy videogames again, like i did in the younger days. I also have more time to focus on other interests of mine such as traveling, outdoorsmanship and caring for my hanging garden, so it feels like 90% of what people peddle for each other is pure and unadultrated misery. If you're the type to enjoy life with your own family or surrounded by people, material wealth and status then do it by all means. In large it is still a recipe for disaster for everybody. People value quite different things in life and some just happen to value a life of quiet solace and solitude. Nothing wrong with that.

It's not a sign of mental weakness, but it is a symptom of self doubt. Regret is inevitable regardless of the path you choose. It's only natural to look back and imagine what could have been, and therefore to wonder if you chose wrong, especially in times where you find yourself in a position you don't like in the present.

But the truth is there are no perfect answers in life. There are those that branched out and never found what they were looking for, and they curse their past and wish they'd have spent more time giving to themselves. There are those that lived their lives for the future only to feel they lost hold of the present and those that lived in the moment that wished they'd planned more for the future. There's simply no way to know where you'll end up from here. Anyone that claims otherwise is delusional.

In the end all each of us can do is our best for us. If that means searching for accomplishment or glory or living in service to others, then we have to go for it. The point I'm trying to make is that others would tell you that's the only "correct" answer. That's not something we should let others decide for us.

This is only "correct" through fallacies.
>You know that one guy, he played video games and now he's not doing okay. VIDEO GAMES BAD
It's not video games that make people not follow ambition. It's not TV. It's not that "satanic devil worshipping music". It's not hippies. It's not books.
You want children to have that ambition, the desire, the will to be the best that they can be and he know-how to get there you have to give them a proper environment to grow in.
Two loving parents. If life is cruel enough to take one away at least have the remaining one not become a complete mess that forces the child to become what they wanted to become, or drink 24/7 or some other shit.
A good school that teaches the kid how to think instead of shoving retarded ideas into him.
And both of those to show the kid what paths you can take in life, how to make decisions, how to find their passion and how to get it. How the fuck is a kid supposed to dive into "learning a new skill" if they don't know how the fuck to operate life day-to-day.

tl;dr Video games are just another excuse to avoid responsibility and another thing to put the blame on. People turn to video games when they're ALREADY in a position where they don't know what the fuck to do, not the other way around.

Planetary protection of Mars has already been compromised by old spacecraft which werenโ€™t properly sterilized, itโ€™s possible there are terrestrial extremophiles propagating in the Martian subsurface as we speak.

The worst case scenario is that we get there and realize we canโ€™t distinguish the native Martian biosphere from introduced terrestrial species, or we find there was a Martian biota and we made it extinct.

The big questions Martian life could help answer are:
Did life evolve multiple times, or just once?
Are planetary trees-of-life related and intermingled, or independent and unique?
Is true panspermia a factor?
What role does a biosphere play in the biogeochemical evolution of a planet, especially with regards to atmospheric development?

Venus, Mars and Earth present a natural laboratory for rocky planet evolution, having all started out with broadly similar conditions and ending up wildly divergent.

And it all started because i wanted to draw my own Midna porn....*sigh*

Or, get this: I don't want to learn new skills or discover something new. Not everyone enjoys that in their life nor finds inspiration in doing so. When people say they enjoy hiking, sports, working out, or anything else I can't relate to those because it baffles me to enjoy spending time doing them. I can relate to enjoying something, but those things specifically are so beyond uninteresting and boring to me that I do not care to invest my time into them and I don't.

I have loved video games since I was introduced to them and that hasn't changed, and in order to love them I have been forced to keep up with technological trends and be interested in different cultures to broaden my horizons. This doesn't mean that if I didn't play Guitar Hero I would suddenly enjoy playing an actual guitar or have the hand-eye coordination to do so.

Why does everyone assume everyone wants to achieve greatness instead of just leading a respectable life where you help people and enjoy what you like? Why do I have to actively do something like fish or hike or play sports in order to feel fulfilled when I already feel fulfilled just playing video games, card games, reading books, and watching TV and movies? Why can't I talk to people in these groups and help people of my own volition and leave it at that? Why do I suddenly need to bench press 450 pounds, run a marathon, and play five instruments in order to "feel fulfilled"? I could not imagine a more boring and unfulfilling life personally.

I thin I'm psychologically broken because everything productive feels like a job. There's always the sense that in trying to learn a skill, there's an underlying impurity to it, as if the interest in these skills only exists because of their practicality. That's not inherently a bad thing, but it's hard to stay interested in something that feels like just another chore.

You can find joy in life once you're already successful enough. But while you're not, videogames only get in the way. human beings shouldn't know joy until after they got their lives together. Unless you're a game developer and play vidya to use them as reference for your own game, or make a living out of entertainment. Now that i put it into words I feel like that falls into hypocrisy since you can only be successful by developing games if you know about vidya beforehand, but what I was trynna say is that you shouldn't waste your life with meaningless fun.

No. It'll be hard though.
Willpower comes in waves. It's up to you to realize when you're feeling well enough that you're capable of lifting yourself up. It doesn't need to be all the time, but when you can help yourself, go for it. a bit at a time will make you stronger even if it takes years.
You could get lucky and find a close friend or lover or caring family member who's willing to help you, but you'd have to make sure not to drag them down with you when shit goes poorly. You gotta help other people help you in that case, but you can manage to find your way in isolation.

I wish I could run the clock back and try it all again but that's not how life works.

See but that's not what you said at first. Your wording makes it seem like you should never be having fun ever, and just keep grinding something, most likely yourself until you become bonemeal.

The modern gamer can barely read, we are not getting EO6. The fabric of humanity is withering and EO is just another victim, kids are on their shitphones and are dumber than ever, middle class is already a concept and not a reality, books are for losers and video games are movies

2 of the best RPGs released in the last decade don't even have RPG mechanics, they are just a dodge a slow pellet slop and parry slop garbage for normalfags and fags.

On paper this is true, but videogames get boring fast. Learning a skill takes years of dedication, so the real hurdle is staying committed and knowing how to overcome obstacles like demotivation, failure, schedule conflict/committments or other issues.

This. I'll be damned if I fund any billiionaires. I got the Thinkpad I'm typing this on from a Goodwill for $30. I will never buy a new product, ever. I save money and make sure all these companies I hate never see a dime from my wallet.

I learned new skills and continue to do so. I got in shape and continue to progress toward related goals. I had sex (and haven't kept up with that one).
Despite engaging in an that, video games still feel worth paying to me. I enjoy them. It turns out that you can do more that one thing with spare time.
