Is the game any good? Some praise the structure and verticality of the world, saying it is on par with Dark Souls 1. Others, however, describe it as a dull and grindy Diablo/Souls clone.

the level design is fantastic. art style is awesome. the comabt is good, and weighty. i think it confuses people because it LOOKS like its gonna be a diablo game, but plays like a slightly faster souls game.

well there are much slower/tankier builds you can do so you can certainly spec into that. i personally went for a faster rapier/bow build. it has weigh classes similarly to souls, if your equip load gets heavy with heavy armor and weapons.

honestly, the issue is they keep panicking about user feedback. they need to just cook and stop begging for feedback. complete the game with internal testing and then take feedback.

Actually It's a shit tier top-down soulslike with diablo loot and time-gated progression + some kind of awful roguelite dungeon made to pad out the playtime while you wait for your structures to complete.
For some reason they're focusing on player retention instead of making a bunch of content even though it's a buy to play game that doesn't even have multiplayer.

Not bad but unfinished and development is a fucking mess. Also every enemy does almost identical lungey pirouettes and shit so the combat gets a little stale fast.

For me it has too many tentacles, mutants and worm things to be comfy, every monster design is genuinely gross as fuck.
But the game certainly has comfy segments, the central hub is very comfy and a few other locations don't involve freakshow of any kind.

I like dark souls and I like hack n slash RPG games, and I think Moon's famous Ori 2 metroidvania was one of the best games ever made

that said No Rest is dogshit. I played it for 3 hours last year and never picked it up again

Its a great game buried under whole bunch of retard-tier decisions

+ great artstyle
+ mature setting
+ very fun combat

- resource gathering -- youre gonna be chopping down HUNDREDS of fucking trees in this game
- pretty bad platforming elements, jump in this game is "automatic", as in you run towards the ledge and your guy autojumps; u can probably imagine what problems this cause: you cant run around ledges without risking accidentally jumping off, idk why they dont just add a jump button like ER

Theyre making good changes recently tho, ie. adding more bonfires you can warp to instead of having to run everywhere like a tard
