recap is not enough. i have armed myself with some knowledge over the past few years and want to go through the experience again to notice some of the symbolism.

Just stop playing vidya for a while. Do something else. Within a week or two you'll want to play vidya again.

I'm A14 ironclad on StS and climbing. I hit a wall a year or two ago at A11 and randomly decided I'd beat A20 before 2 comes out a month ago. So far so good.
Been playing some eu4 multiplayer too with a friend, he usually rage quits but this last week or two it's like it's all clicked and he's playing small tribes well.

I've barely been playing any video games lately. I've been on a model kit binge instead. But when I played Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers with my brother, I had a lot of fun a few days ago.

Finished metaphor refantazio and aliens dark descent
Metaphor 9.5/10
Aliens 8/10
Some overbearing DEI in the first hour of Aliens and the last mission is a fucking tutorial set piece
When you're mowing down xenos with a smart gun and the motion tracker showing 20 more of the fucking things coming in it's fucking glorious thoughbeit

Dropped death stranding 2 after Mexico not sure why, I like the first game but maybe I'm not in the mood for something comfy after the 24/7 stress and adrenaline of Aliens
Will try to pick it up again tomorrow so we'll see

various games. team fortress 2, day of defeat: source, aoe2/broodwar compstomps, deep rock galactic, risk of rain 2, dungeon of the endless, hell let loose, left 4 dead 2, barony. now whenever i boot a game, i just feel im using it to waste time and not really enjoying myself. last time i really enjoyed a game was starship troopers: terran command 1year ago and before that it was 4years ago playing drg with /v/. sometimes i'll play a few of these games with a friend and mildly enjoy them, but it's still just mostly a way to pass some time.

It seems like it is just a mentality thing and I don't know how to help with that. Maybe try something single-player and not random, because something that's more built for an intended experience and not random chance won't feel as time-wasting. I'm a Nintendo Baby, so when I think of stuff like that shit like Pikmin 1, Chibi-Robo, and Sonic the hedgehog in general come to mind. But I don't believe you have my taste. Have you ever played the boomer shooters like Blood. Or what about a Contra? You could branch out into a new genre like shmups or blobbers.

yeah i dont know how to solve it either. i recently tried out sonic adventure 2 which i played in my childhood, but same thing it was mildly fun for a bit then just went back to passing time. i did have some fun with doom1 but then went to doom2 and tried quake and wasnt having any fun with it at all.
i was hoping once i was done with graduate school i could enjoy vidya as much as i used to, but it didnt come back. think i'll just have to stick with reading manga/shooting pistols+shotguns/wasting time watching videos until the joy for vidya comes back.
