>>713785992 >he'd embarrass himself by refusing to drive manual, like a woman >>b-but everything is automatic nowadays
you are incapable of driving manual, one of the simplest and most intuitive things you can learn
>>713785847 >hurr u can't drive a manual >why drive a manual? THINK ABOUT THAT EXTRA 10 MPH BRO!!!
If you have to flex that you drive a manual, you don't have much to flex in the first place.
>>713786067
realize that other drivers work with you rather than against you
nobody wants their can scratched or to get into an accident so they avoid risky behaviors
>>713785253 (OP)
the gears are sequential, so you just move you feet up if you want to go higher or down if you want to go lower
it's easier than a manual car desu
>>713786067
Do what you'd do in any game and assume that literally everyone, from peds, cyclists, to other drivers, are subhuman retard cattle that wants nothing more than to be hit or run over by you
That way you'll develop a subconscious mechanism for always being wary of others while being able to relax behind the wheel at the same time
>>713786290
i never put my trust on other people driving, too many close calls by people having blinkers on and not going the way they claim they are going
Always been swaying from being a NEET to working for a year or two. Ive never owned a car. Too expensive, when your a neet. Been thinking of getting an electric bike. Not a motorcycle or scooter, just a powered bicycle. I just have no use for a car in my day to day life. I WFH, supermarket is walking distance. Order my stuff online. Anyone else the same
I ride a motorcycle and it clicked with me when I realized it's an analog experience. you gotta ease on and off the clutch and the big "gotcha" I had to figure out was keeping the RPM's up or else the engine will stall (turn off). I have to slightly rev the engine just a bit even while sitting still at a stoplight or the bike just turns off. I think it's stupid, but now that I get it, I get it and it's no problem.
>>713786540
no much different than when a car does the same, except if you're not retarded you've stopped in a way that let other cars pass you while you start it back up
>>713786067
Its easy as fuck. You basically press a context sensitive button down to speed up. You stay inside a set of lines. You wait at lights until they turn green. Once controlling the thing becomes muscle memory its just about avoiding other cars. The great part is the other cars want to avoid you too. At some point it becomes boring and the entire time you're thinking "I could be home playing video game right now"
>>713785854 >riding in your based motorcycle >some faggot in a run-of-the-mill car doesn't notice you >turns his car over you >you instantly get crippled or die
BORN TO BE WIIIILD
>>713785253 (OP) >You're supposed to do a little throttle blip while releasing the clutch >Absolutely no one will tell you that
I fucking hate all motor vehicles, if I could kill Henry Ford I would
>>713786119
I didn't say that i'm refusing (i am, but i didn't state that), and it's irrelevant to my question. I simply asked why i should learn manual instead of automatic. What's the point? Also, nothing about driving a car is simple or intuitive in any way.
>>713786527
I'm sure others think it's not as cool as having a car but you're gonna remain healthier and feel better for a lot longer if you keep cycling even if it's light work with an electric one.
>>713786507
(Nta) im comfortable in that situation because ik i'll die swiftly once the driver gets into an accident, i await the fateful moment where i get a quick end everytime i get into a car
>>713785735
Nah, motorcycles are cool. Just the people who buy and use them in cities of a moderate size or larger are idiots, because that is a lot of misplaced trust in the other people driving on the road.
>>713786670
Why are there so many accidents in muttistan? Is it because they have no separate bike categories, and you can get on a 1000cc as soon as you get your license?
motorcycles are only good for rural shitholes with empty roads and big open areas, like for farmers and other peasants, no wonder it's mostly a redneck thing
>>713786726
If traffic is stopped? Yes it is. Opening a door isnβt illegal if traffic is stopped, lane splitting is. If you happen to run into my parked car, thatβs on you.
>>713786290
You must not be American
Most people drive normal but there's always that one retard weaving through traffic, or "urban youth" getting into pissing matches with eachother.
>>713786067
Iβm not really sure how I got over it, but Iβve been driving for ~18 years so I guess at some point I just sort of did. I feel like Iβm a pretty good driver, though.
>>713786648
Here in Europe, trucks usually have both manual and automatic functions, mostly because manual allows more control and helps to keep the driver awake.
>>713786657
Cool, you got to have a valuable skill that'll get you access to more cars
Actually I realise that's an assumption, in the UK you're required to pass your test in a manual otherwise you can't drive manuals legally, is it the same in the US?
>>713786845
Driving is just dangerous and motorcycles are an even more dangerous form of driving. It stands to reason that there are more fatalities when operating one.
>>713787025 >Manual is nightmare in traffic jam though
But you're driving anyway so why does it matter
You're still sat in a line of cars
Traffic jams suck no matter what
>>713787025
Are we talking traffic on a level road or an uphill one?
The former is just you keeping on the first gear and holding the clutch to the board when you want to stand still and putting it into second gear if you're going to go further than few car lengths before you'll have to stop again
Uphill traffic with manual is a nightmare to learn and is stressful but it's also the reason why instructors put such effort into teaching it properly at least in my shithole so that you won't slide into the car behind you
>>713786067
It was never scary, but I also grew up in the passenger seat of a yellow cab my dad drove all through NYC.
Theres normal road rules and then theres a social aspect to driving. Pattern recognition can help tremendously to figure out who to stay the hell away from on the road because they drive stupidly.
>>713786067
literally stop thinking about it, you don't need to micro everything in your car, it becomes second nature at one point
all you need to do is watch the car in front of you, the traffic lights, the crosswalks and intersections
>>713786817
My issue is the cost of upkeep for someone that doesnt really need to go anywhere or has a lot of money, i could probably buy a beater car but thatll just leave me stranded somewhere and end up a rusting husk on the driveway
>>713786527
Sold my car ages ago, it's insane how expensive owning one is even if you work full time. I cycle everywhere now and only rent a car when I need to move heavy stuff.
>study how to drive manual >do relatively well for 8 hours of practical driving >get all documents required for getting my license >put off getting my license for 1 month because I wanted to stay home like a retard >1 month later take the practical test >completely forget how to drive >fail miserably
help me
oh and of course i don't have a car to practice with
driving manual seems really cool but damn i'm dumb
>>713785735
bikes are kino when you live innawoods, you can't hit even 1/10th as many trails in a truck as you can on a bike
i feel so sorry for city slicker urbanites and suburbanites trapped in their gay little whole-body cock cages in gridlock with 2000 other homos in their cages for hours every day
>>713786845
In any country with many motorcycles is the same, motorcyclists are retarded, they think that because they are on a motorcycle everyone sees them.
They don't care about getting in the way, accelerating suddenly, interrupting traffic or driving recklessly.
And then they are crying on the ground with a broken limb because they unironically believed that AGI+VEL could beat STR+RES.
You guys better drive now when you still can >year 2050 >automated ai car is very common >90% lesser accidents than human drivers >oyy veyy think about the lifes we can save >privatize driving >you have to pay for the AI cars services >human driving is now (((illegal)))
Better start working harder so you can afford to go out in the future, goyim
Getting an uber is 200 times more convenient, driving should be done by peasants
even if you have your own car you should get a driverslave to do the faggy work for you
>>713787032 >tfw license expired >but no one here owns a license >let alone registered vehicles
It's like the wild west but instead of horses we have retards on trucks fighting for road space against reckless bike drivers.
>>713787407
Doesn't your school offer additional hours of driving around with an instructor? I remember mine giving 5 extra hours they explicitly told me to save for a day before exams to refresh my memory, all as part of the package I bought when I started to learn
I'm sure yours will gladly do so as well for a bit of cash
>>713785735
car/truck guys are 10x more toxic than motorcycle friends. That said I'd never get a motorcycle. The roads and drivers near me make it dangerous. Also weather is an issue.
>>713787301 >bro, but the drugs
Do americans really? >>713787304
Control to be able to get out of complicated terrain more easily, not so much for common roads, but for complicated climbs or dirt roads where you could get stranded.
That's what my father, who is a truck driver, used to tell me.
>>713785847 >been driving stick for over a decade >still can't rev match properly >never even bother to practice >just ease the clutch slowly instead of blipping the throttle
It's over for me isn't it? I didn't want to find out I was sub-90 IQ this way.
