Consoles used to be loss leaders selling the hardware for cheaper than it costs to make and get their money on the game sales.
The switch 1 should have been under 200$ for years, but they're still as expensive as the day they were launched too.
Nintendo isn't the only one down this path, though. Sony and M$ are doing the exact same thing, even raising prices as absurd as that is.
It's an untenable situation and is genuinely harming their future because these prices are killing children adopting the console because the parents would rather spend 10$ on v bucks than 80$ for 1 game on a 450$ console. Nintendies are going to be a dying breed in the future.
