Nah, they're making a profit on it.
Consoles used to be loss leaders selling the hardware for cheaper than it costs to make and get their money on the game sales.
The switch 1 should have been under 200$ for years, but they're still as expensive as the day they were launched too.
Nintendo isn't the only one down this path, though. Sony and M$ are doing the exact same thing, even raising prices as absurd as that is.

It's an untenable situation and is genuinely harming their future because these prices are killing children adopting the console because the parents would rather spend 10$ on v bucks than 80$ for 1 game on a 450$ console. Nintendies are going to be a dying breed in the future.

The Switch 2 screen is indeed worse than the Switch 1 in terms of motion clarity, this has already been proven, see a video:

But both screens are terrible, so it's not like it's going to make a huge difference. If you don't have any issues with the Switch 1 screen, then you probably won't have any with the Switch 2 screen.
The only real problem with the Switch 2 screen is that if you have any decent screen to play docked, or the Switch 1 OLED or any other device with a better screen, you'll immediately notice that the Switch 2 is "cheap", which is quite disappointing for a $450 product. The $350 OLED Switch will feel much more like a premium product when it comes to the screen.

The Switch 2 is unironically the Switch Pro rebranded, we've known about the T239 for YEARS.

It got delayed because covid and the mining/AI boom had silicon labs working overtime, raising prices.
