In any game that doesn't force you to use a server browser and instead does "matchmaking" it will try to match you against players of similiar skill or worse/better skill if you are on losing/winning streaks, even if there is no "rank" displayed. Yes, Dota 2 from 2012 had EOMM on fucking quickplay, which let you seed your ranked mmr.

There are bots in qp and its super easy to tell them just look at the player list while joining the match , if the opp team is full of 1-5 level noobs its a bot match. There's always also 2 bots in your team that fill in whatever role is left according to 2/2/2, they will pick a hero but wont lock until the game begins. Also they never wear skins at least I haven't seen one that does
