That guy is one of the many people that have left that Quantic Dream Star Wars project into eternal vapoware. It's just David Cage trying to plug the leaks in his sinking ship.

Based take, honestly. You can't write compelling characters if your worldview is just a sanitized TED Talk loop with no contrast. Great writing needs conflicting ideologies, flawed people, uncomfortable truths. CRPGs used to get that. Now we get sanctified Twitter clones in fantasy hats.

Is Tides really that good? It felt like the reception was pretty mixed/lukewarm so I never looked into it, despite loving the original

>Good is good but actually sometimes REALLY bad
>Bad is bad, but bad because you misunderstood them or because they had no other choice

This is literally close to life then as most of what we consider "good" is typically very successful bad people who killed the other guys and we grow up in the wake of their victory. And bad people having very specific reasoning or sometimes morally justifiable motives usually enforces the antagonism we should normally face from an enemy force, it just means a different perspective on things not of our own control.

There is nothing wrong with any of it, just don't let it get in the way to the player.

Do you think avellone has become somewhat right leaning after he was dragged through the mud by his leftist friends and industry?

I'm a sucker for world building and found the world building in Numenera a lot more interesting than the one in PS:T with how it tied in to the central plot. A lot of the criticism I have seen has been that it's too wordy, but if you enjoyed PS:T, I doubt that should be much of an issue for you.

t. faggot who thinks medieval bohemia was being visited by black christian far north of the farthest north point they ever travelled to (source for this being a baptist historical revisionist christian university in the US), that gypsies are bollywood caricatures whose beliefs were like cathars (and not the reality of "we're allowed to steal from gadjos because we stole the nails on the cross"), feminist nuns several hundred years and thousand of miles away from when they first came about, faggot monks in one of the most regimented and scrutinized lifestyles of the period, medieval christians asking jews for an apology for saying grace to God before a meal among many other retarded scenes.
It's some of the most retarded pop-historical california-americanized horseshit ever shat out of that godforsaken hellhole.
Sawyer also thinks using anecdotes of a single case of an adulterer living under identity theft, which scandalized all of Europe at the time, means actually they were all fine with adultery and identity theft. A genuine brainlet midwit who can't handle primary sources to save his life.

To add also, he basically lifted heavily from Name of the Rose too. It's basically him trying to ape Ecco which in itself is probably one of the most pathetic things I can think of.

I think it deserves some criticism it received; combat is kind of bad (can't say much about it since I talked my way through the game), once you figure out how different checks work, it's hard to fail them; pacing in some parts of the game felt a bit off; and voice acting at the time I thought was pretty good, but now I think it could have been better.

The game has a crazy setting, which I really liked, and at first you can barely understand what's going on. The novelty and absolute craziness of your surroundings contributed to the story and worldbuilding. Many smaller stories that seemed unrelated at first gradually got some vague connection to each other. And the more you play the game, the more these small pieces of the puzzle are coming together to reveal another level of the main story, which I must admit was done quite masterfully. (At least I thought so at the time, as far as I remember.)
