i hate it and don't know why. It feels like a slog to traverse and """exploration"" is a chore

I haven't played vengeance but smt 5 og was definitely some kind of development hell monster. One of the greatest combat systems and mechanics in any jrpg, while also having mediocre exploration, only 2 dungeons and an abysmal story. What the fuck happened?

It has little to do with the actual level design or visuals, the problem is the enemies on the overworld and the movement system. You're incentivised to never engage with anything because you can just zip by at lightning speeds instead, it's the same problem with flying abilities in games making any attempt at level design pointless.

It launched as a switch exclusive so they had to cut a bunch of shit they wanted to do in order to make it work on an underpowered piece of shit tablet.

I love deserts and I love modern day ruins so this game is my absolute favorite.

The actual level design is really great though and the fact enemy types use a variety of ways to hunt you on the field is really cool. I would speed up all the field enemies because it is too easy to avoid a lot of them, but there are also a lot of situations where you might get blindsided or fall down into an enemy since the game is so vertically focused. Absolutely wouldn't change how agile the protagonist is, being able to sonic around the world is too much fun.

Yeah, but the player's speed and verticality means that you never have to interact with any of it. If the player was like Nocturne speeds or whatever then they'd actually have to avoid the enemies and engage with the ambushes, but since you are Sonic the Hedgehog you can just run directly up to them and do a spin around them or jump around it to skip every single puzzle or interaction.
The level design is fun and the player controls are fun, but it feels like neither of them are really designed to work with each other.

I wonder if there's a mod to speed up FOEs. That's really all the game still needs.

The netherworld in the series has always been a desert

I hate the gay shit so I'm never going to play this game.
