The only thing this game flopped on was the last level. You could tell they were in a rush to finish development and had to cut the game short. Everything else was Y2K vacation liminal space kino, and the controls are better than Mario 64.

Mario actually accelerates and can shift directions while running near instantly, unlike 64, and that alone makes it an improvement over it's predecessor

Galaxy 1 is pathetically easy and forgiving. At least Sunshine offers a challenge

Only one that's really an issue is the watermelon festival and that one's optional, git gud.

Shit taste and the secret stages are widely regarded as some of the harder levels in 3D Mario.

The giant blooper can be done in like 20 seconds, the wiggler is fine, the goop minibosses aren't bad and can be taken care of quickly, Petey Piranha is whatever, the only one that actually approaches being garbage is king boo and the final boss, but the latter just sucks as a final boss and isn't actually bad by itself.

The complete lack of inertia is a bad thing. Mario just flies off the platform at the slightest tilt of the stick. It's the biggest disadvantage of the controls compared to 64.

A first playthough of Sunshine is rough, because of all the jank, dumb design decisions and unfinished sections. But once you know what to do, mastered Mario's controls and learned what parts to avoid, it's much more fun to replay than something competent but boring like Galaxy.

There are too few actual levels and too many bullshit bonus filler shrines. 64 did it perfectly by having 70 stars to beat the game, 90 actual missions, 15 bonus stars in the hub, and 15 bonus 100 coin stars.

This game was so bad I actually found a copy in my recycle room in my building. It was in really good condition.we played it for a bit and found out it was a shit game so we gave it away to someone else.
