RE6 doesn't belong on the same planet as RE4/RE5. It was a dogshit game that didn't even live up to it's direct predecessor. Capcom took the wrong lesson from that and just assumed that what we wanted was a spoopy jumpscare hallway simulator, and grimdark edgy realism. It was a horrible soft-reboot, and Resident Evil 8 was a carbon copy of 4 with even more schizophrenic world building. Now for the RE6 remake, I think the most important aspect is the following: NO ADA CLONE. Just allow Carla to be her own character.

Regarding the rest of the game, keep each campaign separate from each other:
- Leon and Helena in Tall Oaks. It would basically be RE2 remake again.
- Sherry and Jake in Edonia. It would basically be RE4 remake again but with two super-heroes as the MCs.
- Chris and Piers in Lashiang. Now this is the campaign that has the most potential to be remade, imho. Personally, I'd make the entire campaign happen in a single city block that gets quarantined. Chris and Piers are trapped inside and must find a way out after their team gets wiped out. Think of a mix between the movie REC or Quarantine and The Raid or Dredd.

one way to round out a more limited non action horror game is to emphasize evasion as a mechanic, not just hiding from enemies but running from and weaving around their pursuit. this is sort of a have your cake and eat it to situation, you can position the protagonist as being vulnerable while still delivering dynamic action to the player that isn't just canned hide n seek. ironically tank controls and fixed camera angles were well suited to this type of gameplay. players would have the awareness to react to enemy attacks and the 'clumsiness' of tank controls would making weaving around their attacks non trivial.
all that is to say I'm kind of disappointed that first person seems like it will be the canon focus for the campaign, juking zombies in 2make with the weighty run controls was probably the most novel aspect of that game's action. don't see that really working outside of third person.

Sure, it was fun as a way to pass the time. I give you that. But that was fucking it. Any previous RE game has always been much more than that. Playing RE4 or RE0 or RE3 or any other RE game is actually enjoyable on its own. You can play them alone and not only have fun but also use them as a form of relaxation. The environments, the music, the characters, the story. Every aspect of the games make you feel like you are experiencing something more than just a game.

Don't get me wrong. Keep in mind that what I'm saying doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the co-op aspect. The Outbreak games were co-op and they are an absolute masterpiece. Playing them alone is a 10/10 experience and playing them with friends is even better. But that's not the case with RE5 and RE6. That's why they are such a gigantic downgrade compared to the rest of the RE games.

It's more like 20-30 but yes it's very on rails. I'm not a fan of it, but at least the meat of RE7 focuses on delivering RE1-like exploration, a thick and claustrophobic atmosphere, compelling and entertaining characters, a healthy dose of Capcom cheese/jank, tons of fun and memorable sequences, and tense gameplay. Playing outbreak alone is not a 10/10 experience. Your AI goon platoon is kinda shit and you're most likely gonna pick kevin/marvin because they're both far more overpowered than the rest of the cast in file #1.
If you even bothered to play lone wolf mode which was basically kicking yourself in the balls then again, kevin/marvin were the way to go.
In multiplayer coop however you can pick whatever you want really, ofcourse not every scenario is the same, there are levels where even yoko is top tier.
