Black ops 3 has the most maps, many of them are good

Black ops 4 has perhaps the most challenging Easter eggs out of all the games

It's kinda annoying,
The most fun I've ever had playing zombies was in Black Ops 1 playing with shitters and carrying literal children, drunk fathers, and some occasional chill dudes.

Black Ops 2 was fun to complain about, but some of the maps were really crazy to play as the were released. The gameplay changes were wacky in that buildables were half fun and half fucking stupid and centralizing because they either locked out areas or PaP or were so good you needed them.

BO3 is the best game to buy RIGHT NOW if you were to go and get into zombies. The mods are great, the maps that are base are mostly amazing (even the less appreciated ones), and in general if you can play with some friends going through the EEs together is a blast. But here's the kicker, you can't play online without potentially compromising your PC. The hacks that fuckers have are so fucked up that the community generally recommends you use a secondary launcher to even start the game, and to remain offline if at all possible.

BO4 was fun in the moment but isn't as good at BO3 and the changes to perks fucking sucks. Not as bad as people remember but still fucked. Though maps like the Colosseum, the Titanic, and the Mansion are actually great.

Cold War is fine. It's not bad but it is soulless. Might be your best bet if you like the illusion of progression more than the actual gameplay.

this is a hard fucking question. on one hand i love bo1's atmosphere within the zombie maps and i admit i do like the bo1 guns. but on the other hand bo3 on pc is literally just infinite content with people doing a better job than treyarch at remaking old maps.

BO3 is the best zombies experience you can get.
Play through the games roster of levels and they are all solid. When moving to mods there are a nearly limitless amount but here are some of my favorite:
Mob of the Dead - Remake of best BO2 map
Call of the Dead - Remake of my favorite BO1 map
Leviathan - Really well make map on a Oil Rig. Lots of EEs and secrets
Rainy Death - Really solid, different feeling that base zombies but that's not a bad thing, keeps the gameplay intact
And if you get bored just download any map (even the meme ones are at least fun).

This is the worst part. These assholes are still charging a shit ton of money for all the DLC. You actually need the deluxe edition to get all the maps. I still think it's one of the most fun gametypes ever so it was worth it to me, but man does that price tag really make it hard to get others in on it. Get it while the deal lasts through, it's often not that cheap.

for bo3 just get zombie chronicles if you wanna just play the old maps remastered. the other zombie maps are more easter egg orientated. zetsubou no shima is my favorite. however the workshop has a lot of fun maps to try out and some remade treyarch maps

They are all shit and this is coming from someone who played every map since WaW. The gameplay loop of killing zombies gets old very fast so instead of fixing the elephant in the zoo they added more tedious easter eggs that are trying to distract you from how boring the main gameplay loop is. Don't even get me started on their lore and the general incompetence of their writing team.

bo3 or 1 bo3. you can mod in any other game's features on 3 and 1 is probably the best unmodded.

Last thing to recommend, give this a go. There are some community launchers that may make it better. I generally play online with friends locally, but to get it to work on steamdeck (and I assume maybe shittier PCs) a community launcher might be better.

Current one.
Terminus has one of the very best Easter Eggs in the series as well as KINO atmosphere.
Liberty Falls is the comfy map that never gets boring.
Shattered Veil sits between Terminus and Liberty Fall - comfy with great atmosphere and a very good Easter Egg. Resident Evil vibes with the Mansion, the lab and the plants and shit.
The Tomb has pretty cool zombies and an overpowered wonder weapon but is overall on the mid side of things.
Citadelle des Morts is a pretty good for 2-3 Egg completions but it’s an absolute slog after that. Gayest Map of the bunch.
