Seems like they based the deisgns off of real race tracks. Doesn't work as well for Mario Kart since the gameplay is built around drifting and items.
SO TAKE ME BAAAACK IN TIIIIME
TO ANOTHER WORLD
WHEN YOU CAN BE MIIIINE
WE DON'T HAVE TO WORRY
WHEN YOU'RE BY MY SIIIIDE
THERE'S NOTHING I DON'T KNOW
THERE'S NOTHING TO DECIIIIDE
APART FROM WHERE WE WANT TO GO
Cherry picking 6 courses out of the rest and those aren't even straight, the actual tracks are approx 5-7 seconds each as they are zoomed in so it's not even the entire track

I'm curious what Sonic R's maps would have ended up looking like if Sega hadn't begged Yasuhara to come in part-way through development to help Traveller's Tales salvage the project.
From what I recall, he still didn't like the final iteration much because he thought the game was flawed on a fundamental level. Something to do with thinking that having the characters handle like cars not being very fun.

Yes, it's 70 dollars right now, if you're into rosterfagging then it's 90. Still cheaper than MKW (and arguably buying a Switch 2) and inevitable future DLC
>>713832720
yeah. 90$ for support that lasts til the end of next year is a better deal to me than buying whatever and how many dlc packs nintendo releases over the course of next year for 20$ each
>>713832639 >while base MKW is 80 not counting the guaranteed 20$+ dlc coming later
not true only the season pass is paid for the plus tracks like they did for MK8 will be free so first to FREE DLC and skins, nice try though

They tried too hard to make World different since it was never going to beat 8DX in content. In their great genius, they decided that the way to do that is make it an open world game where you drive from one track to the next, which leads to "intermission" tracks which are basically straight lines or straight lines with slight curves.
world's tracks are terrible because they're straight lines
R's tracks are terrible because they're convoluted messes where half the "shortcuts" are dead ends you have to take for some retarded collectible
both games can suck, OP
>>713832639 >Reminder that Crossworld is 90 INCLUDING ALL DLC while base MKW is 80
and that $90 you spend gets you less content than the $80 even after waiting for a year for all the DLC to be out
also it doesn't even get you all the DLC unless you preorder

There are a few tokens in slightly off-path places that don't lead to anywhere but none of the shortcuts are dead ends. Most of the collectibles are just on non-optimal paths, which gives you a reason to use them and challenges you to win without using the ideal route. Even in the few cases like the token on top of the submarine in Reactive Factory where you have to go out of your way to get the collectible and then take 5 seconds to return to the main path I don't see why that's a bad thing.
