Kojima is a faggot so I don't care what the fuck he says. The Tanker chapter is short enough with the escape sequence included, all you had to do was run back where you came from after Ocelot triggered the C4 in a time limit, how could that possibly not be a fun back half to the mission Metroid-style?

What I'm wondering about is when exactly the cut Harrier boss was supposed to be. After you escape the tanker or before?

I'm assuming after since the entire mission begins when you land on the ship. So Snake probably escapes the ship followed by Liquid leaving New York with RAY, then Snake lands on the Verrazzano bridge somehow and then you fight the Harrier?

It is confirmed after.

Tanker chapter was originally
>Snake lands on tanker from bridge
>searches for USP
>fights Olga
>searches for Metal Gear
>Ocelot appears and steals RAY
>escape from tanker and make way back to bridge
>fights marine piloted Harrier when they think he was the one who sunk tanker
>Otacon delivers Liquid's body to the scene

It was quite a bit longer. You could probably refer to it as the first third of the game pre release.

Anon, even if this were true (running back through the tanker and a boss fight would be like 15 more minutes of gameplay at most), why would you want it? It's literally just backtracking + a boss that's still in the game at a later point. I get wanting to see cut content but acting like the game is worse off for not having this stuff is just silly.

Wasn't MGS2 originally supposed to be titled MGS III? That makes perfect sense with the original tanker chapter's amount of content, and the Plant chapter's cut segments and bosses the game was basically two games in one. The III symbolizes Manhattan's buildings as well.

If a game has less content in beta than in the final release, it is ABSOLUTELY worse off. We're not talking about content that was never made. This game has content that was fully complete and deliberately removed from the director's hubris. No wonder Konami sacked his ass when he wasted their money on assets he refused to place in their product.

There were later trailers where Snake took Raiden's place, like the Fortune fight, which were Big Shell scenes deliberately made to throw us off.

That's what makes me believe the harrier was legit. The fact that it still takes place in the tanker backdrop and contains elements not include in Raiden's equivalent (like the bridge being invaded with enemies) makes me believe it was always part of Snake's campaign and was simply moved and changed to Raiden's when they cut out one of the planned bosses like Oldboy.

Yeah no. Kojima also says anything you guys want in "old interviews".

The water effects in tandem with lots of post-processing were simply allowing the PS2's bandwidth and fill rate strengths - one of its key advantages - at 48GB/s GPU bandwidth. Very doable in a PS2 game and an ability many modern consoles like the Switch can't handle.

If you don't even know what DR is just stick to posting in zoomer game threads. Don't come to a thread for a fucking millenial game like MGS2 and act surprised when someone mentions pure non-euclidian kino like DR.

Peace Walker is my favorite MGS game. It has a solid story and the gameplay is great too.

It's good enough to finish. Play the PS3 version because it looks better and has more quality of life features like being able to use a second analog stick.

V was great too

All MGS games are great. But most of them are rushed with the exception of 1 and 3.

MGS2 needed more content, but there's quite a bit of variety in room structure and enemy placement. My biggest issue is that crawling just doesn't matter. MG2 and GB had the right idea.
