>>713849230Woke/DEI is overstated by twittertards and understated by devs. It DOES have an effect, but it also been proven time and time again that DEI/Wokeshit can be overcome if the game is quality. However, it is also obvious that some devs are totally tonedeaf and don't realize the more woke/DEI a game is, the harder they have to work to appease fans.
A game like Stellar Blade would have BOMBED if Eve were an ugly black woman. The gameplay is good. It is not bad, but it is not great. The story/writing is bad. The open world-ish areas are kinda boring. The music is good. However, the very attractive main character garners a lot of good will that is enough to fill in the gaps.
Meanwhile, a game like TLoU2 undersells compared to the first because even though it has excellent gameplay, graphics, and performances the game is so woke that it just turns a lot of fans off.
tl;dr - Woke games can succeed, but they need to be higher quality. Games that appeal to actual gamers can get away with less. A game that is great and not-woke always does gangbusters.
