I like the Dark Suit (and the Light Suit) from Echoes. It's such a crime these weren't alternate costumes you could choose in any of the Smash Bros games.

For me it's the Zero Mission Power Suit

The base Dread suit takes everything I was always iffy about with the Fusion Suit and fixes it. The fleshy bands do a much better job of showing how Samus' suit is supposed to be partially organic and the white/light blue/red color combo is striking. It'd be nice to see her using these suits again even though that's probably pretty unlikely.

Long loading times between areas are a problem, some of the bosses are reused too much, and the Emmi sections aren't that exciting on a replay. But everything else about the game is fantastic. The controls are smooth as butter, the map is well designed, the story's good and has a lot of neat callbacks for longtime fans of the series. The bosses that aren't reused are all great and it has one of the best final bosses I've seen in a long time.

Some of the issues keep it from being my favorite 2D Metroid, but it's a great entry in the series.

That's a shame. If the transitions were faster, I'd have replayed the game more but getting all the items becomes a total chore when you're bouncing around the different sectors at the end. I'm guessing the load times are probably baked into the cutscene, like the elevators in Mass Effect.

It's good. The movement is really fun, the power ups are all solid and the map is decent but definitely could have been better. Thankfully 100% isn't as annoying as it was in ZM and Fusion either which is great.
Its biggest sins are the EMMI sections getting pretty annoying towards the end and none of the music being particularly memorable

Yes. Best movement in the series (and by extension the genre), and really fun to sequence break. First run through will feel quite linear though, because you're guided down an obvious path. Only real weakness is the music is too focused on ambience and lacks that Metroid feel.

It's a little on the shorter side, but solid from start to finish.

There's a lot of loving little touches, mostly to Samus's animations. Like if she runs into a wall with a chest-height gap, she'll brace her hand against the top edge and point her gun through the opening, all in one smooth little transfer.

It's like the opposite of the Simpsons Opening meme, where Dread is the highly-detailed Season 1 opening, and the sprite stuff is the rigid, less emotive new shit.

The early suit doesn't look bad, that aspect not-withstanding, but the wildberry poptart Varia suit is garbage. I'd take the Metroid Suit over anything in Corruption.
