>Love the dreamcast >Have a miniSTX motherboard PC >Could gut one and make a really cool steam machine for my living room >Could make some custom Dreamcast themed USB-C plugs to keep the front panel aesthetically pleasing >Feel like it's kind of disrespectful to do that to a dreamcast >Get kind of annoyed that there's no Dreamcast menu driver for Retroarch and the "best" way to go about doing something like that would be making an entire fucking new frontend

My only qualm about Sonic Adventure, is all the groundwork for custom content sucks, and I think it'd be way cooler if all modding was built off crap from 2004
Has anybody gone through the trouble of modding their Dreamcast? >SD card drive replacement >Fan replacement that is way quieter >Pico Power supply
The dreamcast is a very simplistic console under the hood, everything is simple to replace just by unplugging things and swapping parts.
that all sounds very appealing to me until I realize I can just emulate Dreamcast games

They'd just be models, and admittedly I've looked into it, but I think 3D printing would be too low quality, and home injection molding would not be plausible.
It would be good for making small components

no, i keep mine hooked up to play metropolis street racer occasionally because (last time i checked) it doesnt emulate well, and occasionally playing SA1 on real hardware purely for the nostalgia kick but thats about it as far as actually playing it goes, pretty much every other game is easily emulatable or just much better on PC with mods like SA1

I have very strong memories of getting it for Christmas, hooking it up to our modem, and downloading the Christmas Station Square mod. I remember thinking that this was the future. Which, I was basically right, yeah. Less magical now though.

Strictly speaking it WAS a success, even a middling one, the problem is mostly that Sega had been too damaged to continue in hardware manufacturing.

bull fucking shit. There's PSX games selling for hundreds, N64 games for "retail" prices (60 bucks for a fucking cart) and things like gameboys for 100$

Retro games prices are extremely bandwagon-y. So, just wait and it may come for the Dreamcast. Probably not though. The most expensive retro games are mostly due to Nintendo fans, who are drones without conscious thought, and furries, who are actually the powers that be in control of our society.
>>713874407 >Why did SEGA use a complimentary color that they ALREADY use in the Sonic series you're talking about
What a mystery.
In the event you don't get it. Orange and Blue look nice together
>>713853509 (OP) >it's thinking
i thought they had figured out ai techniques back then to allow games to adapt to players and they were advertising that fact cryptically

Dynamic games existed even in the arcades.
Daytona USA is quite literally famous for the fact that if you suck shit at the game the drivers will actively take pity on you and while not completely not trying altogether will try to not block you as possible.
