I would say it's mostly preference in this game. One thing to note is that certain cuts are easier or harder depending on if you use a bike or kart. Having a big hitbox can actually be an upside in this game since it makes it easier to hit terrain you can trick off of. On the opposite end, having a small hitbox makes it easier to judge how to aim your rail jumps.

Wild. In MK8 karts were 100% superior to bikes if you could get used to them properly, Bikes ultimately were a crutch and a kart player that knew what they were doing would trash a bike player that knew what they were doing 100% of the time.

I'm a bit skeptical to believe they are just equal in this game

They aren't very different in this game, the main thing is hitbox size. The current meta kart and meta bikes have extremely similar stat spreads so it really does just come down to the course and preference.

"Competitive" Mario Kart. It's a discord server which basically puts you into lobbies. It has a separate elo system that matches you against players of similar skill. I don't take it very seriously but I play it because the skill level is far above worldwides (and now obviously you can't get 3 laps in worldwides easily)

Say, why ISN’T it the case where in online you can just pick whichever course you wanted? You could in DS, Wii, and even 7, but 8 onwards it’s 3 random selections and random itself. Surely people would like to be able to choose their preferred course over a few select options, plus it’s never been an issue either in any of the other games
