Not obviously every part but in some places it was incredibly noticable, specifically around multiple effects

Don't get me wrong, it's not unplayable as it didn't really matter much in boss fights or for platforming really.

The character movement and animations are WORSE than dk64
The textures are just general materials to be used globally. lazily slapped onto models and colour shifted to fit the level theme
The water doesnt even any type of vertex shader to move and ripple with DK. something that games done done since ps2
Due to the world being voxel based and fully destructable its uninteresting and lifeless. This doesnt look like a vibrant and interesting world where things live, it looks like a sandbox

This will still be the best selling DK game of all time because the switch 2 has nothing else to offer

Not really. Just like I wasn't excited for Odyssey but only picked it up because I'd already gotten a Switch for Splatoon 2. I'm not a huge fan of collect-a-thons.

I'm probably not going to pick up Bananza because Nintendo ruined MKWorld which is the only thing that I'd get a Switch 2 for.

You have to chase the blue fuckers into the hole, but they just sperg out and run off in seemingly random directions

Some bonuses also need you to redo a platforming section to get back to them if you fail which makes it more frustrating. Probably not as bad if you emulate and save state at the start of the minigame

Around the time it was released i didn't have a Switch, i had a PS4 and was playing Gravity Rush 2 with this sour grapes mentality that it was better than Odyssey.
Years later i got a Switch with Odyssey and played all the way through. Looking back at it now, I was right the first time. GR2 is definitely the better game and i still think back to wanting to play it while Odyssey was fine but i have absolutely no urge to replay it again.

Odyssey was the most underwhelming 3D mario released to date for multiple reasons. The only thing it managed to do great was funnily enough, graphics. It was graphically pretty decent on the Switch compared to almost anything that came after it, stupidly enough. There are first party games on the switch that look worse and run definitely worse. But as a game? Not worth a shit.
Because it's underwhelming and the new kong game isn't looking like it's going to be much more amazing, there's been a campaign of forced Pauline. Had she not been there it would be very damn difficult to make /v/ accept it.

Mario odyssey was good. Breath of the wild was a good change of pace and had good stuff, but shouldn't replace old zelda. New mario kart is making shit bigger and blander just for the sake of more content. With this new game to me, it's reinforcing that this trend is solidified. This is nintendos new "Style".
