>>713861652I'd argue that they ruined the scene by having Angela collapse to the ground instead of going up a few steps and looming over James. SH2R's Angela is just an object of pity. As she's sprawled on the steps, meekly asking James if he would love her, she gives off the vibe of someone who wants to be rescued. OG Angela instead towers over James, and is being incredibly venomous and sarcastic in that scene. She knows that she can't be saved by someone else, and more than that, she knows James. He can act as nice as he wants, but he didn't have it in him to care for his wife when things got tough. Why would he then be able to be there for her?
The thing about Angela in the OG isn't just that she's this poor, traumatized thing, an object of pity. For one, she's actually dangerous, she's an object of fear as well. Possibly, subconsciously of James's sexual desire as well. And more than that, she's always one step ahead of James, already possessing insight into his issues before he gets to reach them himself. It's through her skewed lens mind you. But it's there.
