"Hmmm..." I wonder in curiosity what the true fate of the protagonists. Although I haven't made completed the sequel, I do know it has multiple endings, but no canon one. Since I have an internet connection and some time to spare, I figured this would be a good chance to find out the true ending. I opened the browser and pointed it to my go-to website for video game discussions, GameFAQs. It's quite confusing navigating the website's new layout, but I managed to login my account and find the board for the game. Luckily, I stumbled upon an active topic discussing the various endings of the game.
Sabrewolf42 - The only thing I liked in X2 was the bad ending where Yuna accepts Tidus is dead. Shouldve been the true ending imo

bigGirth - its the one where they got reunited, but it was a waste anyway since he got gibbed by kicking a bomb he thought was a blitzball lol
peelzhere - Yeah the happy ending in x2 is really the bad ending in the long run. Yuna was selfless to her detriment even in the first game, but Tidus told her to be more selfish and do things that would make her happy. Wishing to see Tidus again made Fayth start dreaming again and Sin being reborn

tajalove - dont bother, squeenix sure didnt. At least they had the decency to spare us a garbage threequel, tho i kinda wanna see tidus get blown up in full hd glory lol
bigGirth - too bad with the newer lore we only got books and shit, really shows how the first game was from a better time
peelzhere - Yeah their recent games doesn't hold a candle to their retro titles. ps2 truly was a golden era for square enix. They had tons of bangers
