In a fit of recent retardation, I accidentally my PS1 saves and lost my Crash 2/3 playthrough from last year.

Keep in mind the power button (at least on the early models, I don't know if they changed it) is a huge pain in the ass to replace

It's specifically the power button that sucks to repair.
It was extremely easy to repair basically everything else and if maintaining the deck, specifically in its form factor, wasn't out of the question it would be completely trivial to bypass with a different switch.

I generally hate to be this guy, but the power switch issue WAS a known issue and was fixed in the immediate next set of decks.

i sure tried to mod custom borders on DOSBox, hell i managed to do it on windows, published my mod and everything, but when i tried to run the modded DOSbox on the steamdeck using proton, it ran like ass

the thing is, im a GOOD programmer, but ive barely touched C++, and ive barely touched linux, and this crap is running through proton, theres 10 million things that could be going wrong here, not to mention the original code i used to develop my mod, was already a modded version of DOSbox, and the way the previous guy implemented shaders on DOSBox using SDL 1.2 is kind of hacky

no offense to the guy, i learned a lot reverse engineering his stuff, but this code is not portable in the slightest, unlike my dear precious Java

Why doesn't the Deck have the 'recently played with' list?
When I played Elden Ring on ps4 it was nice to message and add people with whom it was enjoyable to play, but now I can neither.

Alright so, it doesn't have a dedicated button in the usual UI, but you can pull up your recently played with gamers by:
>Selecting and opening up your profile in the top right
>Select friends on your profile page
>Use the bar on the left to open up Recently Played With
If it's a game that uses Steam Matchmaking/Multiplayer they'll be there.
Pretty sure Smellden Thing uses it.

Just bought crystal project, what am I in for.

You know I wish it had a better way of organizing titles.
For instance I want to hide some of them but the hidden games list is only accessible through the settings. That makes no sense at all. I get it's "hidden" but the desktop Steam client has a section where you can access these. If you play a lot of non-steam games you have to hunt for artwork there, because otherwise your main page is going to look odd too.

I have been playing NBA 2k25 recently on my OLED Deck and it’s super fun. Also enjoying Doom, Yakuza 0 and Cuphead. I bought Cyberpunk yesterday but it feels very off and complicated to play it on a small screen.
