Steam Summer Sale 2025
Discuss carts, deals, what you're getting, what you're refunding, the political economy of Steam, and technofeudalism, etc.

Some games are cheaper in regular sales on the fucking eshop.
Steam tax is higher then nintendo tax now.
Its just a sale, nothing shocking, you are 100% better off buying any game in a random publisher sale instead of the summer sale.

Steam is dead

Lots of new releases, like Doom the slop ages aren't on sale or have a pathetic -10%, basically full price. Even if a modern AAA game goes on sale with a 60% discount it would still cost over 30$ for a single purchase. What's there to buy? Indieshit for 5$ or 20$ you're never going to play? Because you're not actually buying games to play, you're just being manipulated into hoarding them.
Also wtf is this artwork, the birth of the antichrist? How is it related to either games or summer?

I'd get rid of Control. It's theoretically an action game, but it really felt to me like a walking sim with a combat mini-game instead. Every few steps you find notes, letters etc. And if you don't read them, don't dream about understanding the story.

Maybe something like
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2238040/Tiny_Terrys_Turbo_Trip/
One of my favourite 2024 games. It's an (small) open world, platformer-exploration-collectathon. There are some dialogues, but they're short and silly in a pretty good way. It's very easy to just get into. No real thinking required.
Pretty cheap right now, too.

Actually, you can get A Short Hike in a bundle with TTTT, even if you already have the latter, which makes it super cheap. A Short Hike is a bit similar, though without the silly vibe. Exploration reminds me of Breath of the Wild, but without combat, which is a good thing, because BotW's combat is pretty basic.

its also grindy because it was designed for multiplayer so if you play solo, just up the resource gain in the options. 3-4 people is the perfect group size for that game. the summer it came out i had a great lan party/sleepover with the boys with the fan on, windows open, crickets chirping. chefs kiss

>If you really like souls and/or open world games, then maybe ER.
I've never played Clair Obscur has caught my eye because I enjoy turn-based RPGs (like KOTOR) when they're done well.
That said, the dark, epic fantasy of Elden Ring has intrigued me ever since the first trailer and now I finally have a good enough PC to run it.
However, I'm not a big fan of the "dodge and chug a potion" style of combat. Witcher 3 lost me because of it.

So TLDR: I like Elden Rings setting but preferred KOTOR over Witcher 3

The BFG edition on Steam makes it so the flashlight is shoulder-mounted instead and doesn't obstruct weapon use (at the expense of having an astonishingly terrible battery life that means you constantly have to keep flicking it on and off, and also it's irritatingly off-center).

Yes, it's pretty much Planescape: Torment, just without the combat, which was actually the only weaker point of Torment.
Explain, why you called it "tranny elysium". I've finished the game, but didn't notice any trannies or any mention of there being more than two genres or of gender being a choice.

I don't think Cream ever supported that method anyway, so you're really just bitching about Koalageddon/Smoke.

As far as I know, there have been no account bans/deletions because of it, just the warning screen. Although I haven't kept up with it since I never used that retarded method in the first place.

Yes, it has one of the best AI I've seen in the games. Though I didn't finish the last 20% of the game so I don't know if it sharts the bed in the end.
And yes, like another anon said, it's great single player game.

I have 6 games in my backlog including GOG purchases. A have quite a few games I've played that sucked and can't get a refund. That's the only thing that makers me hesitant with buying - being unable to refund/ in your library once you realized you don't like it.

Action combat is quite nice and fluid, SP story is sometimes quite intense and packed with action, bosses are fun, plot typical animuu uguu tier but I liked it for being so adorably dumb. SP main story content last for around 20-30 hours if you intend to take it slow. Personally, I went all ahead for post-game and reach 130h mark now but I wouldn't recommend that.

I don't really follow. Intense guns usually come with simple stable floors to dodge and aim from. Maybe Cuphead?
Give Gungirl 2 a shot. It looks like hot piss, but shooting is very satisfying, and platforming gets tricky.

AI is surprisingly good in endgame, only few more complex characters shits themselves or how some like Zeta forgetting about link attacks and how people recommend stripping her of all skills, which makes her AI stick to pogo jumping all the time, resulting in better damage output. Hell, people even put "glass cannon" on all their AI companions (huge attack/damage cap boost but each hit inflicts dizzy) because AI is that good about perfect dodging everything.
