>>713877273 (OP)Neo Geo became outdated very fast.
It was released in 1990 as a cheaper alternative to the hyper expensive 2D arcade systems like the Capcom CPS, but the falling prices and rising performance of computer hardware, along with 3D replacing 2D on the high-end market starting with Virtua Fighter in 1993 meant that the Neo Geo would be hilariously outdated by the time Tekken released in 1994 and introduced cheap 3D arcade systems based on modified PS1 hardware.
By the time any of the Neo Geo games that anyone cares about came out such as King of Fighters and Metal Slug, the system was vastly overpriced for its mediocre performance. Nice games sure, but did they have be on the Neo Geo? Not really, most any mid-90's 2D arcade board was just as powerful.
