Actually playing Arcade/Story mode is usefull to try what you learned in training mode. One thing is doing stuff with the 2P in mannequin mode, and a complete different thing is doing movements and combos when the P2 is moving/attacking you (doesnt matter if its cpu controlled or not). Why Capcom care more about SNK character than SNK?

I was thinking but what are your thoughts right now on Fighting Game DLC? It feels unironically WAY too fucking slow. I want each season to generally feel like I'm getting a new fighting game "season" and sometimes it does feel like that but it never really feels like the same feeling like playing a new fighting game at launch and each season should kinda replicate it. I think they really need to start adding new characters AT the same time. Maybe 2x at a time (I get why they won't people would be like "who's meta and just buy that character" compared to FOMO) but fuck man it feels more like this

The ironic part is that SF5 removed throw loops halfway into the games life. Its one of SF6's biggest hangups and its weird how stubborn they are about it. You can still make throws threatening, just make it so you have to green slime back in to do it. at least itll cost a resource.

I mostly play in local with frens so we don't have to follow the "online" dynamics. Sure when in a fightan some new dlc/character/season drop we maybe focus on that game for a weekend but then mostly we go back on our usual routine (we rotate the games we play very often).

Throw loops were a bigger issue on their own in 5 because you had characters that could do it midscreen (in S1) and stun. They aren't stubborn, there's just too much going on with 6 mechanically to adequately address every issue. Depends on the game, but generally speaking: Ryu has slightly shorter normals, his DP is more vertical, and his tatsu travels far and knocks the opponent away. He also has good fireballs to spam. I'm referring more to the Duel Phase than the Field Phase. I feel the reason it feels different is the range in which the fights take place. The moves feel like a toned-down anime fighter, where attacks are massive compared to the characters' hit boxes, and the characters are highly mobile. However, these moves are pretty moderate compared to the distance of the fights. Mid-range in Pokken seems to be around full screen in most other fighting games, and once again, characters are pretty mobile, making the neutral game feel very different. And unlike other anime fighters, there isn't a massive focus on long combos and block strings.

X-Factor is massively overhated/under-respected as a mechanic. Seeing when and how people choose to spend it in matches is a ton of fun, while the noobs get a big fun red button to slam and have fun with when playing at the low levels. MvC3 in general is such a strong contender for Top 5 All-Timers, especially how the majority of the cast is viable even with how crazy it gets and the ZMC domination. I'm gonna be real I don't even fucking know what to do against JR ABA, I just spend my matches zoning her out in normal mode and consider it a loss if she installs. She's just too fast/wild to try to play neutral against. I'll try to just super jump out and play lame until she's out bpd gauge.
On defense I mostly try to FD her because she has a lot of pushback and fuzzy her 2H since 236S is a mid and only the followup is a low. Deflect shield would be decent if she didn't have an easy reset into a throw with her command dash.

I’m trying hard to get into GBVSR, but it’s hard to get into. The characters feel like their walking through mud and the combos are probably the most boring of any FG. Then you have the neutral skip Ultimate Skills, annoying ass 66L, and constant knowledge checks.

almost everything in the game is air blockable with FD, yeah generally airthrow is your go-to to punish people just jumping around refusing to do anything, but if they're committing to stuff like summoning then you can punish that.
obviously depends on the situation but Zappa is fast and strong at every range, at least with the right summon, so he can put himself in a solid situation given any space. If Dizzy runs away and summons a fish but that lets you whiff 236P and get Dog you probably won that interaction, and if you already have a summon they're probably not safe even at a distance.

Capcom wasn't interested, Ono was. It's pretty known that Capcom's big wigs weren't very fond of Ono but the success of SF4 despite almost everybody in the company thinking it would fail gave him some leeway, but not enough to make a new Darkstalkers. It's also known that Ono liked to blow budget on CG trailers, and so he had "Darkstalkers Are Not Dead" basically to show how much fans wanted the series to return and then when that didn't work it had basically become Ono spending Capcom's money on negative PR. Between that, blowing a chunk of SFxT's budget on the trailers but showing Alpha footage before the reveal trailer, backing the Panta Rae Engine which they didn't go with, and SFV being a disaster for its entire development and the first couple years after launch (on top of the version of SF6 under him allegedly being shit) it makes sense that Capcom demoted him to the point that he quit. I respect him for getting SF4 made in the first place but he had zero idea how to make a good fighting game.

How easily people forget that Ono's original pitch for SF4 wasn't even as a fighting game (he wanted it turn-based), that the fucked up character models in vanilla 4 were an intentional design choice he thought would appeal to Americans, and that Alpha builds were so bad that some of the staff (including Seth Killian) got together to say "if this game comes out like this it's going to be terrible". Not to mention the intentional imbalance of 4AE because he thought people hating Yun & Yang would rally together to find ways to beat them when it just lead to a ton of top players dropping their mains for Yun.

Every decision Ono made after "we should try making Street Fighter again" was the wrong one.
