Why did Radeon screw over gamers with RDNA3?

Apparently they were simultaneously overpriced and feature-deficient, and it took less than 18 months for AMD to start releasing features that don't work on RDNA3.

I got screwed because after buying a 3080 they relased a 3080 with 12GB of VRAM + never got frame gen

I don't get the hubbub. Caring about upscaling is retarded, but caring about upscaling and then going AMD doubly so, if not more. Why would you not go Nvidia in that case?
