To take a guess, he probably has a higher standard to recreating japanese faces because contrary to popular belief he is actually surrounded by japanese people 99% of the time since birth so he developed a more keen eye on seeing authenticity in japanese faces.

Since he can't subconsciously spot these things in foreign faces since he has far less exposure to them he believes they are easier to recreate.
