I think people who make these posts didn't really play the game.
Its a third person shooter. You shoot things, you have a grappling hook, you and roll, double jump, climb ledges, you have super power abilities. Its fun. The story is competent. The only singular issue in story telling is that the varied legions of the Vulgus make them seem too cartoonish.

I think what the anti-coomer crowd is getting at is that it's kind of a red flag that you have to rely on sex appeal to get people's butts on the seat here. I’m usually pretty apprehensive about playing f2p grinder games. I’ve done my fair share of gacha and I always burn out at some point. I don’t think there’s anything morally wrong with having live service games but the visuals of a game like TFD are held back by its genre of game. This is my issue with the combat. You have these gorgeous character models and all you get to really see them do is wave their arms around for some aoe particle show. I'd rather they replaced the lame magic with dynamic melee finishers and see the chicks actually using their legs and bouncy physics more. Mobs aren't engaging in the least.

It's a third person shooter for the campaign in normal mode. Endgame is some weird hero shooter Overwatch type shit where you afk as you or your teammates abilities oneshot a room full of mobs and then you sprint to the next one
I actually had more fun than I thought with the campaign though. The first few grinds were very fun too, but then it just got boring. I think everyone agrees that there's not enough content right now
