God Hand has the best gameplay in the image though. The only criticism for it over the years was the combat system wasn't built for crowd control and that's already been deboonked a billion times. Unlike in DMC where your hundred moves mean nothing, enemies actually fight back in God Hand. And your long customizable moveset is actually satisfying to use because of the tougher fights and the moves' varying properties. God Hand on its hardest difficulty is easily top 5 vidya in terms of gameplay and fun.

Everyone I know called Marvel movies dumb popcorn flicks for years. I stopped paying attention after the first Avengers and a few years later suddenly people were genuinely discussing these movies and claiming they were the best films coming out. They coped about them initially, claiming they were just fun and somewhere along the way they forcefully tried to legitimize their taste more. It wasn't just with MCU though. In general in the last 15 years or so the term "guilty pleasure" started getting scoffed at. I remember the first time I truly noticed it was in a Fantano review for a My Chemical Romance album where he basically said the premise of a guilty pleasure is insecure and stupid. I just can't agree with that, it's an extremely useful trait to understand when you like something but know it's not really good.... Everyone else seems to agree with him though.

I don't hate top 40 radio because it's popular and there are some popular artists I appreciate but I dislike most of it simply because I've listened to a lot more and once you've done that, top 40 stuff becomes extremely repetitive, boring, and insincere. The funny thing is, people who like popular stuff will paint me as someone who just hates everything but I promise you the amount of music I like is significantly more plentiful than any of them. Planescape Torment isn't known for doing anything better than other RPGs than story. It's just godtier writing, that's it. People even recommend playing it in the lowest difficulty because of how weak the combat is compared to other CRPGs of it's time.
Ikaruga is played by literally anyone who gets into shmups past touhou. This includes zoomers. It's not obscure, or weird, it's literally like one of the most famous shmups of all time. Shmups in general is a niche genre though.
Also although people don't play Silent Hill 2 for the gameplay really, they do play it for the atmosphere and OST, not just story.
