It gets scoffed at but societal beauty standards are more a suggestion than a guideline. The same way a celebrity model babe would be a 10/10 woman "objectively" but you'll meet guys into fat girls, short girls, flat girls, tomboys, frumpy girls; or dudes who genuinely go for personality. Women are the same, some roll their eyes at a Chris Hemsworth body, they want fat men, hairy men, short men, feminine men (typically just to a low point for that one though). If you don't see the appeal to men it's likely just because you're not into men, not that it's impossible to understand the concept of attractive males; samesuch to women who are shocked by how much guys like boobs or wonder why, I guess. The split between gays and straights isn't too far, with body types and looks mainly, though I will say gays will have a higher percentage of being into "gross" appeal. Some lesbians like hairy fat mannish women, some gays want stinky post-gym sweaty men. I've got a wide range of taste but that much is outside my alley.
