I'm fine with the Switch and Steam Deck, my main problem was always these other PC handhelds, Sony making another handheld, and Microsoft getting more involved. The problem will correct itself as those handhelds won't sell, Microsoft's will sell even less, and Sony's will sell will also flop. Nintendo and Valve own this market and if you're already in the Nintendo and Steam ecosystem, there is no reason to get anything else thus why Nintendo and Valve just stick with generations.

You have to be some kind of retard to do that when every game on Xbox and PlayStation is either on Switch 2, coming to Switch 2, or playable on Steam Deck. There's also the Steam Deck 2 in the works, what's stopping anyone from just getting that over some OEM Xbox handheld or the PlayStation handheld?

They will cost more than the Steam Deck 2 in the future while SteamOS gets more updates to make it even more console-like. There is no point in home consoles existing anymore. It's just not the same. Exclusives were the main reason to get an Xbox and PlayStation, without them, why bother?

They're designed for parents, and it's a great design for them.
The kids can play without using the living room TV. They can play in the car on the way to soccer practice instead of having to make them stop. They can play at grandma and grandpa's house while you chat with your parents about taxes or whatever. They can play on long road trips. They can bring the console to their friend's house.

Nintendo has been exclusively targeting parents for a long time now. That's why their games are all for babies and cost way too much while the console is always the cheapest in the generation. And it's why they make fucking bank.

Steam Deck's doing fine in its own market. Problem is what does Sony offer in the console handheld market, what does Microsoft and these PC handheld companies offer in the PC handheld market? If you own a Switch and Steam Deck, you're pretty much covered.

Relatively powerful, but the main thing is still just being able to play Nintendo exclusives. I'd wait for a game that you absolutely can't miss. The moment anything Smash related is announced I'm going back in.

It's strong. Build quality does not appear to be as good as the Deck though. You can slap the Deck's OS onto it now.

Good build quality, lots of official and unofficial support, and you can play your Steam library portably. If you play emulators and stuff prior to around 2019 it's a pretty handy thing. Some won't care for that. For more niche games it's just basic PC internet unlike the Switch where those games are all completely dead online (and you need to pay $20 a year) and of course you're able to add mods and whatnot because it's technically a PC. Because it uses Linux it may sometimes be tough to add certain mods
